Hi, Can you please guide me on the following 2 aspects:

a) Are applicants to the full time one year MBA, who have done their schooling and graduation in english, exempt from taking the TOEFEL? Or do we require this for applying. The 'Document Check List' link on the application portal takes you to the home page if you w...ant to check eligibility (* Please check http://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk/ to see if you need to submit the TOEFL/IELTS.)

b) Which page does one submit the 2 Recommendation letters? Or will the email references suffice?

Thank you in advance.

If you wish to see whether the TOEFL test would be waived in your case you should submit an enquiry form to https://inq.applyyourself.com/?id=ox-sbs&pid=1791 outlining your background being educated/working using English.

You just need to register your referees email addresses in the relevent section of the application and they will be sent a request linking them to the form they need to complete.

Thanks. I have currently submitted an enquiry but did not mention that I am working with European labels, hence primarily in english. I did mention that I did my schooling and graduation in english. Should I submit another form?

Also, thank you for clarifying that recommendations is the same as references.

Thanks

Smita Hi,A general query on admission rounds:Are any of the rounds more or less competitive than the others? Are the same number of places allocated in all three rounds? Many thanks.

There is not a set number of places allocated for each stage however the application:acceptance ratio is usually approximately equal across all three of the admissions rounds.

Dear Admissions Officer, I have a query regarding the 'original university transcripts' that I am supposed to send to you. My university does not issue new transcripts on request. The only transcript that I have, was given to me on my graduation. I can get a copy of that tanscript certified (signed and sealed) by the r...egistrar of the university and have it sent to you in a sealed envelope. Will that suffice? Thanks.Read More

If you get a copy of your transcripts officially certified by your University registrar this will suffice to meet our transcripts requirement.

Jiewen

Jiewen Hi, I am wondering if the interview for MBA only includes competency questions, or include both competency and technical questions. Do I need to revise what I had learnt in university? Many thanks!

Interviews are designed to establish your suitability for and interest in the programme. They will also give you the opportunity to obtain further information about the programme. You will usually be asked questions about information you've already supplied in your application; your past experiences, future plans, why the Oxford MBA etc.

Dear admissions officer, I'll appreciate if you could help me with the following questions regarding MFE round 2 applications;
1) I have first class BSc (hons) in economics from the National University of Singapore. I completed O level (including English language) and A level (including general paper) during high schoo...l. Do I still need to take TOEFL?
2) Does a reference from a ‘non-economics’ professor carry the same weight as one from an economics professor?
3) Is there a set format or specific questions that a referee must follow/answer?
4) I plan to take GRE on November 23. Can I apply before that?
5) How valuable will my work experience as an economist with a leading British investment bank be?

If you submit a query using our contact form (https://inq.applyyourself.com/?id=ox-sbs&pid=1791) outlining your background using English the Admissions Team will advise you whether you need to supply a TOEFL test.

Referees should be able to write about your abilities and what you would contribute to the class. We do not have any specific preferences in terms of their area of specialty. If you have an economics professor who is very familiar with your work then they would be able to speak on your ability in this relevent field but it is not a requirement to supply a reference from a professor in a specific subject area.

When you register you referees details online they will be emailed a link to our specific reference form.... Read More

Our next application deadline is the 15th January. If you wish to be considered in this next stage you can apply any time up until this date. We will hold your information and provided that your file is complete by the 15th January the Committee will consider it after that deadline.

Nipun Mahajan Hi!! I just wanted to know if appearing for an in-person interview gives you some added advantage than if you have the interview over the phone

Many students do find it easier to interview in person but it will not disadvantage your application in any way if you cannot attend in person and you need to have a phone interview.
