Web activist and filmmaker Brett Gaylor’s feature documentary RiP: A Remix Manifesto explores the concept of copyright in the era of Napster, Bit Torrent and peer-to-peer file sharing. Although pop culture giants such as Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones were able to build on past music to produce their own, the door... is now closing behind them. RiP’s central protagonist is Gregg Gillis, the Pittsburgh biomedical engineer who moonlights as Girl Talk, a mash-up artist rearranging the pop charts’ DNA with his incongruous, entirely sample- based songs. But is Girl Talk a paragon of people power or the Pied Piper of piracy?
This film is a must see for any music or artist! Come tonight!

The final deadline for PDX Fest submissions is rapidly approaching - Jan 23rd! That's next Friday!! For those of you still putting the finishing touches on your latest masterpiece or just procrastinating getting the darn thing in the mail, now is the time...! Or, if you have any colleagues, students, or other folks who you think should submit to PDX Fest, please spread the word! January 23rd is a postmark deadline, so for you super dooper last minute rebels, you have till then to get that magic date stamp from your friendly postal employee.
Entry Forms and Guidelines can be downloaded at our website - www.peripheralproduce.com. We have updated our submission process this year so make sure to read through the new guidelines thoroughly!
We will be announcing our selections by early April, so stay tuned to our website for updates until then!!
