PacificEdge Been to offical opening of Carrs Park Community Garden and strawbale outdoor classroom with Kogarah City Council crew this morning. This was the project Faith Thomas and I were consulatants on, with policy development, community consultation & participatory design for a year ago. Good to see it as a reality.

The City of Sydney's community garden tours are helping participants who want to start their own community gardens. The City supports more than 13 community gardens in which citizens are returning food production to the city.

Community food growing is part of the urban food systems and community resiliency agenda pursued by myself and colleagues.
Every quarter, the Sydney Community Gardens Network meets to share information, ideas and food. June 2009's gathering took place under grey skies, however this did nothing to dampen the convivialit...y.
Community food growing enacts the idea of CREATE > SHARE > COLLABORATE.
