Page 15 Recommends (for adults): Castle by J. Robert Lennon. So good that if you happen to be on a cruise ship while this book is in your possession, you will ignore the surrounding beauty of the sea, miss out on the sun entirely, and avoid free food and booze until you finish it.

Page 15 has enjoyed a brief respite from social media and is now back with a dual presence. During this break, many Tweeters (Twits?) began following our inactive Twitter page. So now, for those who prefer that birdsong medium, we will be exporting these here Facebook posts to our www.twitter.com/page15. Warning to Twitter use...rs: we will most likely exceed the character limit on every post... a literacy nonprofit simply cannot be bound by such restraints.

Page 15 's Creative Activity for this (but not necessarily next) Week: Fill one hat (a pirate’s, if possible) with slips of paper on which you’ve written adjectives ending in Y (ornery, stinky). Fill another hat (a wizard’s, preferably) with types of animals (frog, owl). Now have your child choose one slip of paper from each h...at and write a poem about the adjective-animal combo, i.e. The Ornery Owl.

Page 15 recommends: Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris - Six hilarious stories, one in which Sedaris works as a surly elf for a mall Santa. By the way, this book is also recommended in the Holiday Books You May Not Know section of our Holiday Gift Guide. We've got three other sections that recommend all kinds of books for all ki...nds of people. Why? Because it's that time of year, and the economy is bad, and books are cheap and lasting gifts, and we worked hard on it, so check it out!

Page 15 recommends: Bram Stoker's Dracula... you know, it being October and all. If you haven't read this book, pick it up! It's a totally accessible classic and, unlike Twilight (no disrespect), it's actually very scary. Note: read this book in the daylight. That's when the Count sleeps.

Page 15 just fit 800 books in the back of GMC Yukon. The books will be taken to an undisclosed location until the start of BOOK BOUND! Remember? That kid's book giveaway happening this Sunday at the Eola Farmer's Market? Between the hours of 11AM and 2PM? The weather is supposed to be stupendous, so come out with the kids and have a fine time.
