Larry Winget Tool Academy on VH1 - my episode is on today. Be sure to tune in. I shot 90 minutes and will probably get 3 but it was still fun yelling at the tools.

It's a catchy tune, unfortunately the lyrics reek of self-absorption.

Scott Brown Its amazing how that theory really does work. The challenges they create and before you know it each of you is building on the other.

Laura Haskett Cole

Laura Haskett Cole Larry- just read your comment below related to this- what is your stance on strategic defaults and voluntary foreclosures? There is a professor in AZ who is advocating it right now for those who are extremely underwater. His stance is that if a business buys a property, they dump it if it doesn't work out, but that ind...ividuals attach guilt to that kind of "business decision". Would be interested in your opinion. (Your shut up book changed my life, by the way... I read about it in HBR and bought it- I am a big fan!).

I have commented many times on this Laura and debated it on Fox Business (see my video clips on my website.) I think it is immoral. A deal is a deal. If you can pay your bills you pay your bills. You are screwing your creditor, your neighbors, and setting a bad example for your kids. These people want their real estate to do something NO OTHER purchase does and that is increase in value.

Amazing how many people feel it is perfectly OK to stick their neighbor (taxpayers) with the consequences of "walking away" from their home loan. What is currently taking place is nothing new. This practice was also common during the RTC days in the late 80's and early 90's.

Larry Winget FACTS don't need for you to like them or agree with them in order to be true. FACTS are true regardless of your feelings about them. Get over yourself and look at the facts. If you don't like what you see, don't blame the fact.

Larry Winget FACT: Your income will be on average that of your five closest friends. Don’t have enough money? Get some richer friends! No kidding. Dump your broke friends and upgrade! They will make you think better, work harder and spend more wisely!

Eric Lintz Larry! I just received your DVD's. I can't wait to dissect them. BTW, I love your look (we could be twins, minus the chin mullet), do you use headblade for your skull or a plain razor?

Every Leon concert I go to still has all of these same folks standing up and dancing all over the room. Leon just brings it out in them. "They blew my nose and then they blew my mind." Love this one - thanks!

Ruth Weigel

Ruth Weigel I have a question for you, Larry. I know you said you fired any employee that lied to you, but how did you handle it from your kids? I'm at a loss as to how to appropriately and effectively stop my teen from lying to cover up her refusal to follow directions. I don't want her to lie to me. I also don't want her to ...disobey. I'm trying to think through an appropriate punishment... do you have some advice?

It's a challenge for sure Ruth. Lying was never acceptable from the start at my house. The punishment for the lie was worse than the punishment for the crime itself. The key to punishment is to communicate what you expect in advance, communicate the consequences in advance and know your kid well enough to understand what "hurts" them the most. ... See MoreWhen you know what hurts the most, that is what you use as punishment: missing a party, no tv, no phone, grounding, no car, on and on and on. Much more in the book - there is the short, facebook version.

Pam Dudinsky Kovach Sloan

Pam Dudinsky Kovach Sloan Hi Larry ~ they had a segment on a local morning news show. Their consumer reporter was saying that we may become a cashless society. That EVERYTHING could move toward ATM/Debit and credit cards. What on EARTH??!! For the longest time I used my Debit card and thought nothing of it because it came right out of our c...hecking account and therefor there is no interest. However, I started carrying only cash and it's made me much more aware of what I spend money on and we have more money left over at the end of the pay period. LOVE your stuff....just hope you don't think me a stalker. lol

I prefer cash as a means of controlling spending and really don't think we will become a cashless society in our lifetime but I could see it happening. We better teach our kids the importance of money so they will be prepared.

I agree that we will not likely become a cashless society. However, I notice that many of our older or disabled customers use plastic as a convenience. Arthritis, tremors, poor eyesight, and brain damage caused by strokes can make it hard for some people to handle coins and sort bills. These are people for whom overspending does not seem to be ... See Morean issue.

Carrying cash does make people aware of spending. Some express disappointment with themselves when they realize they will have to break a larger bill that they have been carrying, or use their debit card. They might even ask me to put something back when they see that they can't pay for it in cash alone.
