New PTC study shows significant increase in the incidence of female victimization; an increase in the depiction of teen girls as victims; an increase in the use of female victimization as a punch line in comedy series; and an increase in the depiction of intimate partner violence. “Our new research points to a disturbi...ng trend: by depicting violence against women with increasing frequency, or as a trivial, even humorous matter, the broadcast networks may ultimately be contributing to a desensitized atmosphere in which people view aggression and violence directed at women as normative, even acceptable.” said PTC President Tim Winter.Read More

Alright! A movie made for children that might actually be OK for children to watch.

PTC is a great organization. I am proud to have been a part of it for so long.

Keep up the good work in helping families make good choices for their children in all things related to media entertainment.

Parents Television Council Official Page Asked by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., if the movie industry has "played a bad role," Kidman said "probably," but quickly added that she herself doesn't."I can't be responsible for all of Hollywood but I can certainly be responsible for my own career," she said.

WASHINGTON — Nicole Kidman conceded Wednesday that Hollywood has probably contributed to violence against women by portraying them as weak sex objects.

I think this is stating the obvious. But, it is good to hear ANYONE from Hollywood acknowledge the affect entertainment (movies/TV/video games) has on EVERYONE that watches.

The rule, "Garbage In, Garbage Out" comes to mind.

With all due respect to Miss Kidman, she might just take another, closer look at her own career responsibilities. And there's no "probably" about Hollywood's role in a recurrent depraved and nihilistic message aimed at children in particular. Her own role in "The Golden Compass" was a minor example of this in itself. Running around on a stage stark naked doesn't send a great message to young girls either.

Let's not pull down anyone, and certainly not a woman like Nicole, who perhaps is waking up to her real power and vs. Hollywood's. Love in Jesus to you, Nicole. Find out about King of Kings Network...and putting God first; He's bigger than anyone here on earth. Use your money and your power to stomp on this portraying of women (and now even children) or anyone as a sex object. Freedom in Christ! Be bold and for Him....and see how the LORD WILL USE YOU!

Courtney Cox plays a slut in Cougartown. Poor acting, poor to little storyline. Amazing ABC cares about content or integrity of a commercial. It is hypocritical, but what else is new?

Miss Cox already perfected her "cougar" character on "Friends". It's no surprise that she's set to make more money off of it now. And, after all, what could be funnier than a middle aged woman pursuing young men?! The only question is, how young will they get? Thirteen, maybe?

Kids are naturally attracted to cartoons, as cartoons are traditionally aimed at kids. Don't think that the makers of "adult" cartoons don't realize this.

Parents who are sponsoring a Halloween party tomorrow should note that Showtime is running the child porn film "Hounddog" at 8:45 PM, CST. As it stars the one-time "clean" child star Dakota Fanning, kids might be tempted to tune in if unsupervised. Better they see Freddy Krueger than that.

"Trafficking in bad taste or soft-core smut has become a very easy thing to defend, because whenever you're attacked, you simply call the attacker a fuddy-duddy or a prude. You don't really have to be a reactionary to find MacFarlane's comedy revolting, or to see his 'art' as the mass-media equivalent of peddling smut ...to kids, do you? If so, then maybe there are worse things to be called. It's certainly worth the risk."Read More

This was not illegal under current law, and was in the early morning hours when the audience at least SHOULD all be adults, watching a live show where the surprise is that this took 30 years to happen. Still, NBC can at least apologize and take steps to try to prevent it from happening again. Just because it is legal under our nation's warped laws and lack of minimal standards does not make it right, moral or very defensible.

People tend to watch because Charlie Sheen's in it. And let's be honest; Sheen can be hilarious. That doesn't, however, absolve him from performing in such content and concepts on prime time, when kids can easily watch.
