Jesse Orf If I found a genie in a bottle my first wish would be to be able to grow a beard like yours. The second and third wish you might be able to ascertain.

Lucas Jefferson
Listen...do you smell that?
Name of the Wind rocked me the first time...second time was just as good. Can't wait for Book Numero Dos.

Lee Taylor Contemplating reading the book... for a third time... Not much new goodness out this summer...

Radad Hamayel ive cleaned out barnes and nobles fantasy section and I need something to read anyone have any suggestions? Ive done all RA SALVATORE, Sanderson, Abercrombie< the weis & hickman books, Hp, Robert jordan, grr martin, hobb, and some others im forgetting...

Try "Song of the Beast" by Carol Berg, if you yet have not.

Matthew at 8:32am July 4
Also, while your waiting for book 2. :) Read the OOG novel by Louis Lamour, "Haunted Mesa". Before that, since your in that section, read his novel set in the 12th century "Walking Drum", cause it's his best and not what you would expect. Then move over to the classics and read the Hornblower series by CSS Forester, it's just good fun. If you've tapped out the genre... improvize!

Melissa at 12:50pm July 4
You should try Kushiel's books by Jacqueline Carey.

Matthew J Pappal Picked up your book in the mid-east. NotW is the best new fiction I have read in many moons. Let me add another redundant and inane "I am a fan..." to your list of junkmail. OK, stop analyzing the self deprication and cheeky use of the "dot dot dot" and just accept the compliment. :) Keep up the good work.

Agata So I've just finished page 662...and to the room I am sitting in I have added the forth part of the silence.. one that creeps at you when you have finished something remarkable and you know that for a very long time you will be alone with your thoughts with no words to comfort you.. one that leaves you breathless and hollow… one that can only be broken by the 2nd book..

Chris Snyder Keep up the good work! Im trying to spread the word of Name Of the Wind As Much As Possiable here on Long Island

Aaron Nelson Just FYI, but I recently bought a third copy of your book and still have yet to keep one for myself. My introduction to it came through a chance selection at the library and I've since bought it for two family members and a friend (as a wedding gift!). I also got somebody else to buy it for himself and he's hooked too. I'm gonna make you RICH BIATCH!

Kasper Gustavsson Does Patrick have an e-mail address you can mail too? Can't find it anywhere? :) I love the Name of the Wind, one of the best books I've ever read, and I would like to ask Patrick a question!

Sa'id Cortijo do you have an opinion on Michael Jackson? I am intrested to hear it if so.

So the power was out in my neighborhood today. This doomed me to an afternoon of stewing in my own juice. The weather in Wisconsin right now has been roughly equivalent to living inside a dog's mouth. ...

Pat you are always good for a chuckle. Before I read the blog, I asked about the next book... now I just wait and know it will be amazing when finally released.
Patrick Rothfuss at 1:45am June 27
I was just in England...

Erik Scott de Bie
Reading Name of the Wind now. You've hit something really, really special here, good sir. :)
Cheers

Pooka Ambert Milik Yay Comic con! Im happy I will get a chance to have my book signed.

Justin Robinson 'Name of the Wind' was an amazing read. Can't wait for 'Wise Mans Fear'. Grats on your success

George
You should add your name to the list of writers attending Worldcon: http://www.anticipationsf.ca/English/Als oAttending

Terron Ishihara My sister lent me your book, and despite being about 130 pages in, I am captivated! I can't wait to see what else happens. Thanks, congrats, and keep up the good work; I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Jason Beauchene Hey Pat, We are going to review Name over at Good Reads on the Modern Fantasy Readers and Writers group; if you want to poke your head in and see come July that would be great.

Jaco Awesome work! I have read your book and loaned it to a friend to read. He has not given it back and I wanted to reread it before the release of the second book. I actually went and bought a second copy, and I would do it again! I have never been compelled to buy, or even rent, a second copy of a book (apart from the Bible of course) before, and I consider myself a rational person... LOL
Matthew at 9:32pm June 19
Same thing happened to me. Better to have loaned and lost? My first copy is still in Iraq somewhere, bless it. Fine reading, even "o're the ramparts".

Brendan Callahan I cant imagine how frustrating it is being severely pestered by the most opinionated of fans regarding the release of the next novel, but i can tell you it's out of desperation. So many people have been waiting for a fantasy writer of your caliber to come around that no matter how much we bitch, we will still eat it up, and its out of love (and once again desperation). What i have to say on behalf of all of the complainers is TAKE YOUR TIME. You've come upon a thing with the potential to live forever in genre, and then some...no small feat. Make it the best you can. Listen to fans as much as you would but no more than you should, this thing is yours, and only as much ours as you allow. Even if another novel is never written, thank you so much for what you've given us.

Jessica Lyn Lucero Thurber I've read about ten chapters of Name of the Wind and I'm so addicted I can't even tell you. I will not be sleeping tonight, I can tell you that much.

Justin Sanders I couldn't tell you how many times I've reread "Name of the Wind" i less than three it with a depth and breadth that is greater than...um something deep and wide, something VERY deep and wide

Joost Vunderink fondly remembers the Amsterdam book signing. Sitting on a bench with a small group pre-signing = win!

Josh Schulte "The Name of the Wind" was a great book. You have an awesome gift. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

Patrick Rothfuss is wishing there was some way to consolidate his normal facebook page, his fan page, and the Minions group....
Michael at 12:56am June 17

Joe Houdek The name of the wind was a great book! Can't wait to hear when the next book is available.

Brandon Spanis When Nathan says "heart", he really means it... That dude would marry that book if it was legal in Colorado.

Debra Brunsberg I loved your book. You are blessed with a great talent. Thanks for sharing.
