During this recent warm spell, I was able to release a chipmunk much to his delight. (Watching a happy chipmunk race off into the woods is sheer delight to behold! Sadly, he was too fast and erratic for a video!) I've also been able to move a few squirrels outside, one group of which has even been released since the...y adjusted so quickly! We still have far too many inside that will likely have to remain for the rest of the winter. But it was good to be able to get these few out since they were very wild and cleaning the cages was a difficult and somewhat dangerous task!
We also took in two last fawns for release from another facility. They were late babies that just could not go until now. They are still small compared to the others, but as long as they follow the other (more experienced fawns), they will learn their way around the property quickly.
Paws Animal Wildlife Sanctuary, Inc. We are very excited to have Justin doing his Eagle Scout Project here at PAWS. He is building a beautiful raptor pen here that will give us more room to work with raptors. Thanks, Justin!
