Stone Soup Coffeehouse
Dean Friedman will be performing at Stone Soup Coffeehouse on November 7, 2009. A traditional Stone Soup “Hoot” (Open Mike) will begin the concert. Stone Soup is located at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket, RI. Concerts start at 8:00 PM; tickets are $15.00 and available at the door or through PayPa...l until Friday Night. Dean Friedman first marked his entry into pop consciousness with the Top 20 chart success of his infectious hit single, Ariel, a quirkily irresistible and uncategorizable pop song about a free spirited, music loving, vegetarian Jewish girl in a peasant blouse who lived, as the lyric goes, "...way on the other side of the Hudson". Friedman is currently host and producer of the popular BBC Radio Scotland series 'Dean Friedman's Real American Folk' which features the sounds, the spirit and the stories of the Hudson River Valley region in New York (and beyond). His 2005 CD, “Squirrels in the Attic,” is a collection of hilarious comedy songs for adults, definitely not for kids. Stone Soup begins a few concerts throughout the year with a Stone Soup “Hoot.” We invite singer-songwriters to come early and sign up to be one of the four performers opening this concert; each performer will sing one song. Stone Soup Coffeehouse
Cliff Eberhardt will be performing on the Coffeehouse stage with Lara Herscovitch opening. Stone Soup is located at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket, RI. Concerts start at 8:00 PM; tickets are $15.00 and available at the door or through PayPal. (Stone Soup is wheelchair-accessible.) Cliff Eberhardt... is a songwriter's songwriter with a lyrical sophistication that could easily occupy a chapter in the great American songbook. Combining world-class lyricism and pop hooks that reside in your head, Cliff is a rare musician who can deliver a heartbroken line with a twist of humor. His 2007 CD, The High Above and the Down Below was named one of the top 5 releases of the year by USA Today. He follows it up with 500 Miles: The Blue Rock Sessions, which is being describes as atmospheric and powerful. The dazzling originals that make up the backbone of the record are accentuated by solid covers including a stunning reworking of John Hiatt's "Back of My Mind” as well as a refined rendition of Cliff's 1990 classic "The Long Road." Lara Herscovitch is the Connecticut State Troubadour for 2009-2010. Her music has been described as a skillful blend of contemporary acoustic/folk with pop, jazz, blues and Latin influences: "truly someone to watch for." (Acoustic Live in NYC)Read More

Mustard’s Retreat
Opener: John Fuzek
For more than 30 years, Mustard’s Retreat (David Tamulevich & Michael Hough) has been entertaining audiences with its special brand of folk music. Highly acclaimed as not only songwriters, but as interpreters of traditional and contemporary songs and stories, their show is full of enthusiasm, good humor and fine musicianship. They are wonderfully unafraid to get silly with their audience, spinning out smartly goofy parodies, too-tall tales of wily rabbits and stupid frogs, hard-traveling cadavers and marauding techno-nerds. Come to Stone Soup for a truly wonderful musical experience.

Stone Soup Presents The Second Annual Rhode island Idol Tickets: $10.00

Musicians, Singers & Songwriters of all ages compete at Open Mikes throughout the state of Rhode Island for the opportunity to appear at the Rhode Island Idol Finals at Stone Soup Coffeehouse. There will be a very special guest MC and a panel of local judges for this event. The result is an evening rich in diversity of musical styles, with amazing performances by the best Rhode Island artists.

Roy Book Binder
A student and friend of the Rev. Gary Davis, Roy Book Binder is a blues guitar entertainer. Equally at home with blues and ragtime, “Book” shifts from open tunings to slide arrangements to original compositions with both traditional and self-styled licks. His storytelling emphasis is another characteristic that makes his style unique. Mixing stories of the great bluesmen he has known with songs that emphasize his points, he keeps his audiences well entertained. Roy has performed at most major blues and folk festivals in the U.S. and Europe, including Merlefest, and has been included in Sheldon Harris' book, The Blues Who's Who. Toby Walker and Pat Wictor's Blues at the Crossroads: Saints and Sinners celebrates the varied, often contradictory, faces of the Blues. Toby's forte is the more traditional Blues sound: a low-down, earthy growl about people coping with hard times and bad choices. Pat finds inspiration in both Blues and Gospel where ...redemption is within reach for all. Both are superb instrumentalists. The elements of a good performing duo are the same as a good relationship: similar enough to be compatible, different enough to be intriguing. Pat and Toby have what it takes, and deliver a wonderful bleus performance not to be missed.
