Peff Rick Silvestri: excerpt from of PTR²: The concept of “tuning” harmonics poses an inherent difficulty and potential pitfall of reducing the art of mixing to a series of procedures, which ultimately is the wrong approach. ..... One of the most practical ways of using EQ is a holistic methodology referred to as the “Real Clear” EQ Philosophy. The Real Clear EQ philosophy simply states,"...

@Scott Milton: I don't know of too many new sites that offer free refills - other than the ones that I've listed. It seems that everyone is commoditizing their content and putting it on the prop shop. If you're looking to invest in some libraries, I could recommend a few.
Honestly, I don't have too many vintage synt...h refills. However the usual suspects include the Pink Noise Studio Analog Monsters. Lapjockeys Flatpacks include a lot of great vintage synth samples, and another one that's cool is Chris Stewart's G Drive. (Tweakheads should also check out his P-Drive refill)
As far as drums are concerned, I really like the Jason McGerr library. For Record Users, the Fistful of Drummer multi-track stems are really amazing to work with. These are available from Loopmasters. For some really beefy drum hits, you should check out Kikbak's MPC refill - he did a nice job producing and treating these samples.Read More

Peff Drawing inspiration from MJ on this tutorial on EQs for the book. Ooohoo!

Peff Not sure if I can make it, but I'm sure this will be a great Ableton seminar in SF!
Location:164 Townsend, Suite 3, San Francisco, CA 94107
Time:11:00AM Sunday, November 22nd

Peff The Prism Sound / ATC / SADiE seminars were cool. Some of it was general knowledge, but the presenters would go super deep into issues dealing with noise shaping, dither, jitter induced by cable, etc. I enjoyed it, and would recommend to anyone to go check out the upcoming dates.

Peff excited about Prism Sound seminar at expression tonight!
