Bim Angst Is there a schedule for the 2010 incarnation yet? Those of us hoping to be in the program need to plan around weekend course meetings and that four weeks or more in Ecuador. Thanks!

The four weeks in Ecuador are set (June 23 - July 25) as posted on the web. The weekend and online instruction final schedule will be posted in a week or so, but will likely not vary much from the tentative schedule.

Penn State has been working on getting the Teach Grant up and running, hopefully, it will happen this year. To be eligible for the Teach Grant you must be enrolled in a degree program at PSU. Also, to access the annual $4,000 TEACH grants, students must be formally admitted to the specified teacher certification programs (MTHED, READING, SCIED, ... See MoreSPLED & WL ED
Graduate students also must be enrolled in actual "degree" programs (“CERT ONLY” grad students are not eligible.)

I was wondering if there was another way to earn the TESL certificate. I have two young children and would not be able to leave them for 4 weeks.

Elizabeth Smolcic This summer, Camp English 2009 will take place in Otavalo July 13 through July 30. Many thanks to Sarah Braxton, Cheryl Kane and Janis Martinez (all past ESL cert. program participants) for raising funds and getting back to Ecuador this summer to teach. Brian. For me, this was an experience of a life time, and it was the best education I've ever received. The instructors are incredible as is the country. If you're looking to get certified in ESL, this is the absolute best way to go in terms of overall quality and bang for your buck. If you have specific questions, please send me a line. It's been since 2004 since I went, but I'm sure that I can help a little.
