I am always amazed at how human you guys are... Compared to your average west coast "stars" that are so far removed from reality and regular human interaction that they become these icons that people look at longingly like gods to lemmings... bravo guys, keep doing what you do

I think some people are afraid to look outside their vessel. The new science does not refute any religion. It mearly shows any where you stand is a different view...even if your eyes are closed. Let there be light has no confinement of size or time. If you look too closely at my picture, magnifying many times you will only see the dots of color; not the whole view. Ponder on that.

it is well known that often scientists have an issue with other scientists that dispute beliefs held by the majority. Sometimes the majority are correct, but sometimes the opposing minor are correct. Otherwise we'd never have discoveries - a famous one always quoted is Galileo and the Earth going round the Sun idea. Other scientists of the time could apparently prove this was a ridiculous concept (as well as the religious leaders disputing the claim). So I fear it's possible that the majority of scientists (especially those making a living from this, and companies who make a profit from flu vaccines) want to discredit the scientists quoted in The Atlantic article.

Both sides can make claim to any number of reasons why both sides believe they are right and use analogies that both sides can poke holes in. But just because a majority of scientists (or any group of people) believe one thing, does not mean it's necessarily true.

I'm not against vaccinations when they're shown to work, eg smallpox, measles, mumps, rubella, etc, but the flu one is apparently questionable with what seems to be reasonable evidence (eg 1997 incorrect strain of vaccination making no difference). So I'd like to see that question addressed, but it seems the majority just want to believe it works, and deny doing a large clinical trial.... Read More
Not good! That's not science, that's called faith.

Yes, the smallpox vaccination seemed to work, and work well, but influenza is not smallpox, it's possible a virus known to be capable of mutation needs a different approach. Smallpox was not a mutating virus.
Either way, I don't know. But I find it scary that those in favor of the flu vaccination seem to not want it to be tested on a larger population than the lab-trials that were done, and done to a standard that nobody can dispute.

Yay :)

I have to admit...I am not a Randi fan, however. His writing impressed me from neither a writing standpoint nor from a logic and reasoning standpoint.

But for the time they initially came out...I have to give him credit for bringing what he did to light and starting a very useful movement, even if that movement is sometimes as dogmatic as those things it tries and finds guilty. ... Read More

Penn & Teller are eccentric magicians with a psychotic twist. Their stage show, which has played Broadway and toured the country to sold-out houses, now has a permanent home in Las Vegas at the Rio. And catch them on Showtime¹s hit show Bullshit.
