Hi Danna,
Just give PAN a call at 800-944-8790 (Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and tell them you want to receive Notary Notes at home. Better yet, tell them you'd like to receive digital Notary Notes and give them your home email address. Thanks!

Kat Keegan

Kat Keegan I am looking for an employee for my Honesdale and Lake Wallenpaupack offices. I know you can put the ad in your newsletter, but is there some place to put them on your website, here on FB, or should I just do it on your wall? Kathy's License Service

Jennifer Kennedy

Jennifer Kennedy Are there examples of documents (online) which have been notarized by a PA notary? I think that once I see what these docs look like, I will have a better understanding of how to complete the task.

I think it's best to always call PAN first. I have found out in the past there are so many companies selling things online and sometimes they will give you something (supposedly ) free just to draw you in. AND almost always it is not specific to Pennsylvania.

PAN also has several books with examples I bought them years ago and still refer to them today. You might want to look into them.

Remember to give PAN your membership number, they have great discounts for us members!

Jeremy Welzcher

Jeremy Welzcher I have 3 questions:
Do I need a business license to become a notary?
Do I need one to open a business that hires notaries?
How do I file my income when I become a notary?

Hi Jeremy. No, you do not need a business license to become a notary. You must fulfill all the requirements to become a Pennsylvania notary. PAN can help you with that. I do not know the answer to your question on whether you need a business license for running a company that hires notaries. Please check with the state for the regulations on PA ... See Morebusinesses. Notary fees are not taxable, but if you charge clerical fees, then those fees are taxable. There is a special section in the tax forms that deals with notary fees. The IRS can provide the best answer to that question. Check it out online at www.irs.gov.
PAN can be reached at 800-944-8790 or online at www.notary.org. Thanks for asking these great questions!

Hi Durisa. Most people are notaries because their employers ask them or require them to become notaries. Some of our members are self-employed notaries doing general notary work and/or motor vehicle transactions. If you are thinking of becoming a notary, don't hesitate to call PAN for help. Thanks.

No. It has never been a requirement in Pennsylvania. You can have your customers sign your register, if you choose, but that's completely up to you.
