Legislators and Right to Work Advocates to Introduce Initiative to End Forced Unionism
WHAT: Prime sponsors of the Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative and several of the Commonwealth’s leading Right to Work advocates will host a rally to kickoff their 2009-10 campaign to end the legislatively-sanctioned, job-killin...g and economic freedom-deterring practice of compulsory unionism.
Passage of this four-bill legislative package (House Bills 50-53) would ensure that every working Pennsylvania citizen cannot be compelled to join or pay mandatory dues to a labor union as a condition of employment.
WHO: Keith Charles, executive director, Pennsylvanians for Right to Work, Inc., Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler), Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren), Rep. Sam Rohrer (R-Berks), and Rep. Tom Creighton (R-Lancaster). Other featured speakers will include both public and private sector employees who have been negatively impacted by compulsory unionism. Additional House members are also expected to attend.
