The Museum of The Black Watch Following an enquiry from a colleague, we thought it might be interesting to feature three eighteenth century powderhorns as our latest Objects of the Month.

These three powder horns date from the eighteenth century. They were used during the North American campaigns by members of the Regiment.

The history of the First World War (1914 – 1918) is brought to life by personal reminiscences, film and objects and stand as a testimony to over 8000 Black Watch men who lost their lives. They were truly “the lost generation”.

The Museum of The Black Watch is proud to announce to opening of its new Gallery, devoted to the Indian Mutiny, Sudan and Boer War periods, as well as the Militia & Territorials. The new Gallery was reopened in July 2009 having undergone a major refurbishment. New features include an extensive photographic shlideshow and brand new displays.
