Cycling in Vietnam, from Saigon to Hanoi, Hoi An, Hue, Sappa, the Mekong Delta and many other places in Vietnam

Breaking the handlebars is one thing, losing/stolen wallet another, but giving up without struggle is no deal. SO tomorrow I hear if I can fix the handlebars. If fixed I will continue cycling to Bangkok. Where's the fun without solving problems, besides, they can only get less after this.

I'm 5 days on and it's not going well, in fact so far it's a list of problems that I had not anticipated. From small to worse
Day 1. HK some troubles with the brakes, nothing troublesome
Day 2, visa then boat to Gaoming, not Zhaoqing, 75 kmn extra cycling
Day 2 end... p...ouring rain and the bank of china doesn't take my debit AND creditcard, after about an hour it all works.
Day 3. No problems... phew
Day 4. Making it up for day 3, flat tire and my new back wheel tire is broken at the tim side... no way to fix
Day 5 is prime time. The handlebards break off. Gladly I was just at the start and not in full speed. The day ends comfortably with my wallet being stolen.
It's really my journey

Hi Brian What a great memory you have. I actually joined the Army at @inf workshops (my father was in the RASC, serving close by) I returned to 2 inf in

The Toilet Cleaner, stories from the road, Hong Kong

Peter's travels Tomorrow to China, and the real start. I don't like Hong Kong much... too many homo sapiens here. If the rain stays away it can be a nice first ride, even though I have to cycle 50-55 km extra

Peter's travels 13 hours sleeping, I woke up with a very painful back.

Peter's travels Typhoon season... it has been beautiful in HK for weeks. No rain until yesterday and guess what happened yesterday.... yup, I arrived. Typhoon seems not to hit the mainland very hard but heavy showers are expected... including on the road I am intended to cycle... bummer.

Peter's travels Got my Chinese visa... got a boat ticket too but... it's no longer Zhaoqing... it's Gao Ming now.... another 55 km extra to cycle or so.
