On the second Thursday of each month, an artist from the Festival residency program or a guest artist from the region will let us in on the latest happenings in their creative process. It’s a casual affair, so anything goes. The artist might show segments of work, share their research, or just tell everyone what they’…re currently imagining for the piece. Your questions and feedback for them throughout the event are warmly welcomed. In traditional Festival-style, free beer will be offered to all!
November’s featured resident artists:
Thaddeus Phillips / The Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental (http://luciditysuitcase.org/home.html)
Jorge and Niki Cousineau / Subcircle (http://www.subcircle.org)
Kathryn Tebordo / Workshop for Potential Movement (http://potentiallymoving.org/)
November’s pre-series bonus event:
For this month’s Second Thursdays Series, you’ll enter the Festival studio through AREA 919’s gallery space. Between 6pm and 7pm, join AREA 919 for a glass of wine and meet the Artists of 13 Months, an upcoming exhibition at AREA 919. Opening November 5th, 13 Months is a survey of exhibitions from the past year at AREA 919. New works by TODT, John Rosser, Amie Potsic, Abby Schmidt, Luis Montoya, Anthony Angelicola, and Mark Khaisman will be offered through December 12th. For more information: www.area919.com

Subcircle is the collaboration between choreographer Niki Cousineau and designer Jorge Cousineau. Since 1998, Subcircle has been working toward a type of performance that focuses heavily on the space in which dance occurs - the theatrical space of the performance, the distance - affective and actual - between audience and performers, and the environment that encompasses both. In each piece, they set out to establish a completely unique atmosphere, using music, movement, set design, lighting, and often, film and video. Collaborative in nature, the work strives to engulf audiences in created environments. Cinematic and introspective, Subcircle makes visible and vulnerable the inner lives of characters, citizens, and bodies.
