New Door Books Last night I posted a short reflection on the website (http://newdoorbooks.com/) about survivorship -- what it means to survive a trauma and how that affects us in later life. HANAH'S PARADISE has a lot to say on the subject, and it does so with humor and affection for the "damaged people." Of course we're all damaged ...to some degree, in some way. Comments welcome.

The books are printing and will ship by the end of the month. Thanks to all those who've ordered HANAH'S PARADISE. Remember to ask about special discounts for book clubs (and we'll be happy to supply book-club questions/discussion points on request).

New Door Books Another recipe from HANAH'S PARADISE is up on the website, along with a grumbly comment about the rage for memoir rather than fiction.

New Door Books On the New Door website we've just posted a couple of recipes from HANAH'S PARADISE, the novel that includes food as well as sex, adventure, and politics. The first recipe comes from Lilith, the mythical figure who supposedly was Adam's first wife, before Eve. How a mythical figure learned to cook is beyond me, but it ...sounds like she had a way with spices.
By the way, here's the final version of the cover:

New Door Books My first personal commentary on HANAH'S PARADISE is now up on the website (http://newdoorbooks.com/). I try to explain what the book says to me about the issues of group and personal identity. Feel free to comment or argue. --Doug Gordon

New Door Books Logo fixed, to some extent, by cropping off the top and adjusting the portion that shows in the thumbnail. Apparently Facebook likes everyone to be square. New Door Books is just too hip for this place.

New Door Books Soon I hope to post excerpts from HANAH'S PARADISE on the website, with my own commentary, and I invite everyone to join in with feedback. I'll let you know here when the excerpts are up. Also I'll work on fixing that black box that appears with each post instead of the New Door logo. Although a black box is perhaps representative in some ways?

New Door Books Further comment on the kind inquiries we've received: Since editorial decisions are being made by the Working Writers Group (WWG), our titles will come via group members. That is, if a WWG member gets really excited about a book, we may offer to publish it. It's a collective enterprise in that sense. Prospective author...s should tackle a WWG member on the street and wrestle him/her into submission.

New Door Books What an introduction to Facebook -- so many fans already, many of whom I don't even know! To respond to some of the first inquiries: Unfortunately, we're not looking for new manuscripts right now. We come into being with a backlog, and we need to deal with that before we consider anything else.

Tree Riesener Congratulations. It's wonderful to have a new publishing company in Philadelphia. The new novel looks great and WWG has terrific writers!
