Navarro Vineyards Beat the heat with Navarro

It's summertime and Navarro has plenty of lovely wines to quench your thirst. Check out Navarro's Summer Samplers with savings up to 26%! Here's what we and some of Navarro's customers recommend for patio sipping:

2009 Rosé, Mendocino. Only 14 cases remain! "A mouth full of fruity goodness, in... a dry, lip-smacking presentation. Strawberry, watermelon and other red fruits. Lots of flavor here, with nice balancing acidity."

2009 Pinot Grigio, Anderson Valley, Mendocino. The bargain price belies the broad flavors of tangerine, honey and ginger; makes this an ideal choice for summer dining. Half our inventory was sold in the first 30 days; we expect to sell out early.

2009 Gewürztraminer, Cuvée Traditional is juicy and crisp with plenty of gumption for spicy dishes. "Spicy fruit, good acid. Clean and refreshing, an impression of sweetness but not cloying. Is there a better CA Gewürz? Excellent food wine or aperitif."

2009 Edelzwicker, Anderson Valley, Mendocino. In last year's professional Mendocino County Wine Judging, Navarro's 2008 Edelzwicker was proclaimed the best white wine produced regardless of price. See why 100% varietals aren't necessarily better than this Gold Medal winning 2009.

2008 Chardonnay, Mendocino. "Strong citrus nose, ripe and smooth fruit taste with crisp finish. Another very good value from Navarro."

2008 Chardonnay, Première Reserve. "Citrus and vanilla in the nose. Lively acidity -- balanced with nice fruit. Good food wine since it is neither overwhelming nor flabby. Good value."

Wine and juices can be combined together into a case if you wish to take advantage of Navarro's One-Cent ground freight on case orders until the end of July. We hope to hear from you soon. You can order on line at www.NavarroWine.com. If you prefer, call us at 707-895-3686, toll-free at 800-537-9463, send a fax to 707-895-3647 or email sales@NavarroWine.com. A real, live person will be there to help you 8-6 PDT weekdays and 10-6 PDT weekends.

    Keep cool this summer,

    Suzie Linville

Suzie Linville A friend sent me your non-alcoholic wines and I finally cooked with the Gewürztraminer last night. It made a delicious marinade for chicken. I can't wait to try one of the recipes from you all!

you can e-mail us a recipe at sales@navarrowine.com. We look forward to trying it out!

      • Suzie Linville Thank you! I just emailed it to you. Let us know what you think. I believe as I reviewed it that we used Garlic Black pepper in the marinade but black pepper works too.

Navarro Vineyards In case you missed our live shearing broadcast, we've put together a highlight video of two days of sheep shearing.

Navarro's sheep munch the weeds in our vineyard rows, eliminating the need for herbicides. Each June we do a sheep shearing tango to keep them cool. We are rewarded with wool, more than three bags full.

Anne Kohlstaedt Thank you for switching to cardboard shippers!! :) There's no styrofoam recycling in Portland, so getting rid of shippers is always a challenge. With cardboard, though, it's a breeze!

Navarro Vineyards Smoke from the '08 CA
forest fires was absorbed in growing vegetative material; in grapes
that included leaves, stems, & skins. Smoke compounds are not found in juice, so white wines need not be affected. The smoke seemed more obvious
after a year in the bottle. We sent a sample to every customer who had
      purchased Futures.... We want Navarro
customers to be pleased with each and every bottle of our wine they open. Ted

        • Jim Chokey I'm intrigued to sweet what this will be like....

        • Vaughn J Filer
One of my winemakers told me he purposely put extra smoke in some of his barrels in the 1987 vintage and the wine was absolutely delicious. There is a reason wine is so popular and not just for the alcohol but for the various opinions of w...hat is good. At least Navarro is being very upfront and honest and giving you the opportunity to make the decision for yourself. You probably don’t like a lot of oak in your wines to begin with so give Navarro a break and try it again next year when the “smokeyness” is not so obvious. At least the wine is actually made from grapes and not chemicals and additives like your 2$C.See More

      Diane Rake

Diane Rake Got a bottle of 2008 Navarro Pinot Noir yesterday. We're taking it to a party where at least 2 of our friends have sophisticated palates. We want their opinion, too. The reason Navarro shipped this to us is that we ordered futures, and this wine was to be included. However, they are concerned because the 2008 fires... changed the flavor of the grapes. Some people love this wine; others dump it. Please correct me if I have my facts wrong.

        • Karen Greig What was your verdict Diane? We shared our "test bottle" with a friend and 2 of us still liked it and the other didn't. We all liked the smokiness, but the one dissenter thought it had a bitter aftertaste. My husband and I didn't notice any bitterness.
