Come join H.E.R.O. for a presentation by Erica Keppler on the practical considerations and stuggles that go into a fight for equal rights, and against discrimination.

'In November, 2006, Tom Anderson banned all transgender people from his night club Anderson's 5th Estate after receiving complaints about one transgender... patron. What followed was a year long fight by members of the transgender community lead by Michele deLaFreniere to stop this open policy of discrimination. Out of this struggle, much can be learned about the many considerations and challenges that go into fighting for rights and opposing discrimination. Erica Keppler, who worked closely with Michele throughout, will discuss the history of this public and ultimately victorious civil rights battle.'Read More

Please check your facts. The information on here is incorrect: Tom did not ban "ALL", just the group using the bathroom inappropriately, and freaking out the current customers. Also, The victorious battle that was won, was from Tom reaching out to Equality Arizona to have them help him settle this with Michele.

H.E.R.O hopes you can attend the H.E.R.O. meeting tonight at the Community Church of Hope. 6:30 p.m. 4121 N 7th Ave. in Phoenix. Enter through 6th Drive. Come meet the Equality Walkers and find out what happened during their 97-mile trek across the Valley last week.

H.E.R.O
From August 9th-15th, while many were escaping the heat with pool parties and high electric bills, six Arizonans took the message of Marrriage Equality to the streets.

For one week, these six Equality Walkers hit the pavement making a 97 mile trek across the valley, for the 97 years that Arizona has been a state withou...t full marriage equality. During the journey, they were able to speak to police, city managers, faith communities, elected officials and individuals in diverse districts.

Come and listen to the stories from a long, sweaty, hard, blister-causin’, calorie-burning, mind-blowing, conversation-starting endeavor for marriage equality.
