These options include the reduction of services at the Picton, Trenton, and Bancroft Hospitals in an effort by the organization to balance the hospital’s budget by the end of the 2009/10 fiscal year as directed by the South East Local Health Integration Network (SE LHIN). About Us
Originally established in 1905 as the Picton Board of Trade, the Chamber was incorporated in 1979 as the Prince Edward Chamber of Commerce.
Separately, a group interested in promoting tourism in the County established the Quinte’s Isle Tourist Association in 1952. After operating temporary booths in various loca...tions throughout the County, the current office at 116 Main Street in Picton was purchased by the Tourist Association in 1964 with the personal backing of three directors.
The Chamber adopted this same location as its home base and for many years merging the two organizations was discussed. On February 7, 1996 the two groups merged resulting in the current organization. Still headquartered at 116 Main Street in Picton, the Chamber’s objective is to “Promote and increase tourism, business and civic pride in the County of Prince Edward”.Read More
