Piers Paul Read is an internationally renowned author, both in fiction and non-fiction. His most widely known work is Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors, though his fiction is widely followed and has won several awards. He's also the official biographer of Sir Alec Guinness.
Read received his BA and MA from Cambridge, and was awarded Ford and Harkness fellowships early in his career, leading up to his notable success with Monk Dawson (1969). Since then his career has included works of dramatic non-fiction, novels, and screenplays, often focusing a journalistic eye on stories of tragedy and redemption.
His latest work is The Death of a Pope (2009, Ignatius).
