The old Pilot Grove Jail will be open for free tours from 10 AM till 4 PM Saturday, October 17 during the Harvest Festival. The ground level has two cells
for inmates. The upper level was used originally as the mayor's office and for council meetings.The building dates from 1893 when it was constructed of local brick by... a Pilot Grove brickmason,Joe Gantner, according to Muriel Brewer, who heads the "Friends of Pilot Grove" a group that restored the building.
This group of volunteers has installed weatherproof windows, painted the walls and located a few pieces of original furniture. A collection of Pilot Grove pottery and various artifacts from the early history of the town are on display in cases and on the walls.
