For the first time, it has been legitimately acknowledged that bi-modal (bike - train - bike) is a truly green form of transportation. The Firefly Brigade helped coin the term "green zones" for the LRT 1 & 2 systems Bike On, Bike Off project.

In a country of drivers and motorcycle riders, one city is building a bike path to get commuters feet off the accelerator and onto the pedals. Biking, to work, to school, is on the rise, and it is all thanks to a new and safe place to ride.

it was mentioned safe to bike in marikina. i hope it's the same with bike lanes. I bike commute everyday and noticed that bike lanes are not safe in most portions of marikina considering that a number of PUV, private vehicle and motorcycle drivers are using the bike lanes for their own conveniene disregarding safety of bike commuters. Hope markina city officials will monitor the use of bikelanes religiously and do something about it

Racers start is inside South Forbes Golf City and will make their way up Cardiac Hill towards Bukohan. It's a heart-pumping, chest-ripping, breathtaking effort on a course that is less than 10 kilometers long!

I'm surprised at all the negativity. Visually it's very striking, which is great for a fashion bike. Throw in the internal gear hub mentioned in the comments and maybe even the pedals in the front and it might be practical enough for a fashionista. Put in a hinge or two to make it folding and then I think it gets really interesting.

Pinch me, I just want to make sure i am not dreaming! Folding bikes on the LRT will be for real starting Nov 8, Sunday. Jojo and I, along with 3 members of the Firefly Brigade held a meeting this noon with LRT Administrator Mr. Mel Robles. As per our recommendation, the wheel size of folding bikes will be increased to 20 inches, to accommodate the availability of Japanese surplus bikes with that wheel size. Also discussed were other phases of the project in the future - bike parking and limited full bike access is next on the list. The project is called Project Bik-O for bike on, bike off. We played with calling the project BOBO. but that had a short life for obvious reasons.

Project Bik-O will be launched this Sunday, 10am at the Cubao Gateway Terminal of LRT2. There will be a short ceremony and some refreshments (I am not sure if biko will be served) then we will take the LRT to Legarda Station where will alight, and then bike to Luneta. Luneta is quite symbolic because Jose Rizal is a folding bike enthusiast. Just kidding, Luneta is Kilometer Zero from which all highways are measured, hence the importance.... Read More

For all those with folding bikes, I welcome you to take part in this historic occasion and join us at the Cubao station. For those who want to show support for this project, please join us at around 11am as we alight from Legarda and accompany us on the short bike leg to Luneta. A show of support from full bikes would be beneficial as we hold future talks for bike parking and access at the LRT.

Mabuhay tayong lahat! Bik-O!
