Kim Kirkpatrick Been here a number of times, and LOVE the cause of this! Planning on taking a trip again real soon.

Jean Marlow Conklin Dillon What a place, my kids surprised me with a visit and tour at CPT. My camera was smoking when I was done, and I'm ready to go back for the Twilight Tour. I wish I lived closer ! Thanks Robin !

Latest news story on new rescue Nitro.
In animal news- Kiniki Caracal visited the vet yesterday and had a bladder stone removed, Sarah Caracal is eating better after being diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis, and Morgan and Renee are getting along well after their reunion.

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Nitro, one of two rescued tigers who recently arrived at the Carnivore Preservation Trust in Pittsboro.

Carnivore Preservation Trust Nice article with wild tiger population statistics from a reputable source (the zoo population numbers must be for AZA zoos) Keep in mind these numbers are from 1999, and the wild population has continued to decline.

Carnivore Preservation Trust Join us on Saturday for our Quarantine Open House- a chance to see behind the scenes at a big cat rescue!
Source: www.cptigers.org
CPT invites the public to attend our Quarantine Open House. This is a rare opportunity to learn about the behind-the-scenes process of rescuing a wildcat- from transporting them to the sanctuary, their veterinary exams, to the process of moving them to their outdoor home.

Carnivore Preservation Trust Apache and Nitro tigers are being moved to their outdoor enclosure today! (previously the back Tex/Jellybean enclosure, aka VA Girls enclosure)

Shanna Oberreiter As a volunteer, I am so grateful to the people who have donated to CPT for Elvis' care and the new rescues! I was able to see Elvis from a distance this weekend while doing animal care. He is still getting used to fresh green grass, open air, lots of leg room, toys and smiling visitors who are currently keeping a respectful distance from him as he is still under quarantine in his outside enclosure. What broke my heart was that even though he is now outside and has room, he is still not used to having room to stretch those long legs of his. When he explores, he walks back and forth in two foot by two foot tight distances as if he still thinks he only has crate size room to move about. To see his little face look relieved when he takes a few more steps and realizes there is no more crate wall to stop him is very rewarding. I can not thank CPT enough for giving this little guy the second chance he so very badly needed.

Carnivore Preservation Trust The News & Observer published the story about Elvis serval's arrival today, and it has been picked up on message boards. Donations are coming in from around the country, over $300 just this afternoon!

Carnivore Preservation Trust Serenity Springs (the facility in this story) took in 15 of the 40 big cats that needed homes when Wesa-A-Geh-Ya closed. CPT rescued Emerson, Fenimore, Mona, and Moki from Wesa-A-Geh-Ya.

How is it that CPT has figured it out (don't go in the cages with the BIG DEADLY BEASTS!!!) and so many others haven't? Is it really that hard???
Heather at 8:26pm April 27
Hmmmm....bitten on the right arm..."significant but not life threatening." Is that a nice way to say, "He'll live, but he's a lefty, now"? It's not a difficult concept, people: Shift, clean, unshift. Duh.

Apache is NOT a happy camper...yet.
Shanna at 8:52pm April 22
Well, that was immediately following a 26 hour drive to NC and among new people he didn't know. Poor guy was just unsure of what was going on. I would probably be just as cranky. hahahaha. We'll spoil him and get him all kinds of happy in no time! :) :) He is a gorgeous boy, that is for sure.
