Website:
Company Overview:
Osaka, Japan-based independent video game developer.

This Facebook page is a window into the world at PlatinumGames, and is home to posts from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, Devil May Cry/Okami creator Hideki Kamiya, Okami producer Atsushi Inaba, and many more of the world's most talented game developers. Many of these posts come from our Japanese blog, but you'll find original content here as well.
Mission:
Every year, numerous games are released across a variety of genres and on various platforms, giving users the ability to suit their entertainment to their tastes. But as the games business has grown, it has also fallen into chaos.

We are PlatinumGames Inc.

Today, the sheer number of games on the worldwide market is reaching stratospheric levels. But these numbers hide the fact that it has become increasingly difficult to create brand new titles. It's only natural that a company's business plan revolves around creating sequels to popular series. However, we dare to challenge users by developing new and exciting original titles with a level of quality that matches our name.

Platinum never tarnishes. It keeps its luster forever. It embodies our passion to create high quality games that will never disappoint. A passion we hope will garner praise and trust from our users.

While Western studios now stand in the limelight, we hope to bring Japanese games back to the forefront of player's minds.

PlatinumGames. Developers of games with lasting quality.

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged... Actually, I’m in Los Angeles now. (Translator’s Note: This entry appeared on the PG Japanese blog on June 5, 2008.) We just announced our title recently, but once again I’m on the road overseas.

Hah Kamiya, you sure love classic games xD

I am not a big fan of nintendo consoles, even though i owned the NES and the SNES ... I more of a SEGA gamer ... Genesis is just awesome :P

Whoa, getting your hands on any version of Virtua Fighter, let alone the 32X one for 2 dollars is a pretty good deal.

You're the man, Kamiya. You also have excellent taste in games! wwww

I wish you the best with Bayonetta, and all of your future projects.

Gosh i just cannot wait to hear and see more on Bayonetta. You truly have absolutely no idea how high i set my hopes for it, i certainly am waiting and hoping for a blast! OKAMI's my favorite game, i have faith in your current and future projects. And that's why i'm really surprised to hear you saying "Bayonetta’s case is that things are going better than any game I’ve made so far". I mean, better than OKAMI?!! I must be dreaming!

Well. i'd like to add 3 things here:
First, I certainly wish it were a PS3 exclusive. You know, i am against multiplatforms due to the simple fact that developers don't make full use of the hardware. The ps3 system is a masterpiece, if people do take the time to learn it. I'm sure you've played MGS4, and i'm certain you're fully aware that it was just the beginning of one wonderful era.

Second, please get Mad World on PS3 as well!

And third, yes it might sound crazy, but please let SEGA know that we're waiting for a DC 2 !!

i love to see those good story line + super GG action combo with melee and guns in the air......omg... can't wait to see that sexy lady owning some mobs....

Not to say that you are a tease but that picture is not very big :)
Alex Draeger at 10:09pm June 24
Great idea Antoine, let's limit the audience for what will no doubt be an amazing game by making it exclusive for the PS3. Think about how you would feel if it was exclusive for the 360. The pendulum swings both ways. Personally, I favor the 360 to PS3, but that doesn't mean I want PS3 owners to miss out on this game. Multiplatform games are better for everyone.

On the topic of the game itself, though, it's good to know the development is going so smoothly. Hopefully we'll see some more of it at E3 next month, eh? And I hear it's the cover story for the next issue of EGM...

Alex and Antoine.

I've deleted your most recent posts in this thread because they are straying off-topic and headed towards a flame war. While you are both 100% entitled to your opinions, the recent posts have very little to do with PlatinumGames.

Please try to stay on-topic.

Thanks,

JP

This is a great PR move from one of most potentially awesome game developers in the world! Thanks, Platinum Games.

I'm mainly looking forward to Bayonetta due to its completely over-the-top action and premise. That 30-second trailer was beyond awesome, mainly due to the great editing.
MadWorld is particularly interesting with the decision to go with a stylized color scheme. It reminds me a lot of the visual style of some of Goichi Suda's games combined with the black, white and red accented color scheme of Frank Miller's graphic novels.

Information about gameplay for either of these titles is still a bit slim, but from what I've seen, I do like the environmental usage in MadWorld, though the challenge when implementing it is to make sure the players have a reason to use it while not making it boring or repetitive.

Infinite Line is a game that I'm a bit less interested in, but its scope is certainly impressive. Maybe my opinion will change as more information is released.

Will Platinum games attend to E3 ?

MadWorld loos amazing! I can't wait for it! I wish it was for Xbox 360 or PS3 though because of High-Definition but oh well. I'll just borrow my brother's Nintendo Wii to play this game. I really hope you guys take advantage of the Wii hardware...wait...what am I saying? I know you talented guys and gals will. Keep up the good job! MadWorld for the win!

p.s. it reminds me Frank Miller's Sin City graphic novels but on steriod with tons more blood & gore! And that's super awesome!!!

But DMC 3 already rules !!! Too bad that DMC 4 offers such a poor level design... but playing Nero was finally fun. Perhaps Hideki Kamiya didn't made it ?

I'm really curious to see what Bayonetta will be... hope a very deep and tight gameplay as DMC 3 offered.

Epic quest, check. Amazing visual style (so nice, that it looks better than most 360/PS3 games), check. Charming and excellent story, check. Excellent characters that posses character, check. Innovative game mechanics, check. Every ingredient necessary to make an excellent game. The game puts Robert Eberts in his place and proves that games are indeed an art form. It's one of those games that's like an excellent book, you never want it to end. Easily the best game of 2006, and further proof as to why Hideki Kamiya and PlatinumGames rules.

Epic, innovative, unique and addictive. Basically everything you ever wish for in an adventure game. Truly a masterpiece. Graphics are so unique I can't imagine it ever be outdated. Gameplay is creative, unique, smart and fun. Story is long without being boring, it's funny and interesting. Characters; all have a unique personality and you will inevitably grow to love them.

Easily my favorite game of all time. I don't think I've ever had so many quality hours from one game (easily 30-40 hours of gameplay, I spent 45 hours first time).

Best Resident Evil game EVER!
It was visual perfection. Survival horror was redefined & I am now scarred for life & is afraid of wardrobes & cupboards...

Bring back the zombies & crimson head zombies! Crazed villagers w/ parasites popping out of their necks after you blow up their heads are not as cooler.

Or are they.....
