Crys McCuin Our Sarah is gone but has left us with so many gifts. We can cherish her memory through our work at Dutchess ARC, and compassion for each other and those we serve. She was a bright light, a loving spirit, and like no other. I will always remember that wonderful smile and feel forever blessed to have shared even the bri...efest of moments with this wonderful, giving soul. We at Dutchess ARC are better for having known her. Crys

Dutchess ARC This spring, Dutchess ARC will once again be holding a major fundraising event designed to raise much needed support for the services and programs we provide in our community, and to promote awareness of the many issues facing individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The 2009 Dutchess ARC Laurel ...Run will take place at Freedom Park in LaGrange, NY, on Sunday, May 17th, 2009. This event features a 10-mile and 5k run, along with family activities taking place throughout the day. Cumulus Media will be on site providing musical entertainment and Charlie North, President and CEO of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the event.

The first Laurel Run began in 1997 when Wayne Hotelling, a retired teacher from Silver Creek, NY, ran and cycled more than 400 miles across the southern tier of the state to raise public awareness about people with developmental disabilities. Wayne and his wife, Elaine, named his trek the "Laurel Run" in honor of their oldest child, who was born with Down syndrome. In 1999, Dutchess ARC's parent organization NYSARC, Inc., took up the call and organized a Laurel Run to commemorate its 50th anniversary. Every year since, Dutchess ARC has continued its commitment to our mission and hosts a Laurel Run in Dutchess County to raise awareness about people with developmental disabilities and the importance of the continuation of the services they deserve.
