There's going to be a new knitting store in town!!!
Downtown Berkeley Springs that is!
As of September 1st, PMF will be located at 19 N. Washington Street. This is the space currently occupied by Mostly Woven, and is a wonderful retail location. It is smaller than what I have here, but there will be room for knitting group, events, etc.
I’m really excited to have this great space for the shop!
Time:11:00AM Tuesday, September 1st
Location:19 N. Washington Street, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411

The Studio Tour is coming at the end of this month. We are planning a special event here — a "modified" sheep-to-shawl demo (modified because the sheep were sheared a month ago! and because everybody is invited to help).
We are inviting your participation! I'll show you how to prepare and spin from longwool locks, so br...ing your drop spindle, wheel, and knitting needles. Our spinning teams will handspin the dyed longwool locks, and the knitters will create small squares (any size) which will be pieced together for the shawl.
The finished shawl will be donated to the Morgan County Art and Elegance fundraiser in November.
Please note that individual instruction in spinning or knitting for beginners will not be possible during the event (there's only one of me!), so some basic skills will be needed to participate, although everyone can help with fiber prep!
General info on the tour is here: http://www.berkeleyspringsstudiotour.org /

Timed to coincide with the International Water Tasting Festival here in town, we are holding our second annual Yarn, Fiber and Chocolate Tasting, Saturday, noon to 4 at the shop.
Spinners will be able to sample a wide variety of fibers, from the basic to the exotic, such as breed specific wools from New Zealand, Austral...ia, and Great Britain, plus German space dyed wool roving and gorgeous dyed merino/silk blends. We will also have a selection of locally produced fibers including award-winning alpaca, Black Welsh Mountain and our own Leicester Longwool.
Knitters and crocheters will have the opportunity to try out new and classic yarns with fiber content such as Italian silk/cotton, Chinese bamboo, Peruvian llama, wool and alpaca, Belgian linen, and domestic wool and mohair in a variety of flavors, from laceweight to bulky. This is a great chance to try something new!
Chocolate lovers (and that IS everyone, right?) will be able to sample the fabulous confections of DeFluris Fine Chocolates, from Martinsburg, WV. We will be carrying truffles, bars, and other specialties from them.
Here's how it works: I'll have mini skeins of at least 14 different yarns, and "try-bite" sized samples of 12 to 16 different fibers for you to try out in the shop, so bring needles and spindles for swatching. If you'd like to take a full sample set home to work with, the cost will be $8 for each set, and will include a 10% off coupon for your next yarn or fiber purchase.
The shop is open on Saturday from noon to 4pm for this special event. I hope to see you here!
Ellen
