Paula Sander is collecting used bicycles, any size or condition, for the Jacob's Ladder children in the Belt Line neighborhood. A bicycle shop owner is donating his time to teach the older boys and girls how to repair bicycles during the month of December but they need bicycles. This is an opportunity to help these boy... and girls learn a trade and make a difference in their personal lives and their impoverished neighborhood.
Jacob's Ladder is a non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible.
You can contact Paula at 755-0132 or 573-3356.

Poplar Estates Homeowners Association Germantown Fire Marshall Jody Dwyer spoke to the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) and gave us all some good tips regarding Smoke Alarms and general fire safety in the home. FM Dwyer suggests that you have at least one smoke alarm on every floor or level of your residence and additionally 1 alarm in each bedroom of your house. Please see the attached link for more useful information.

In the event of a fire, properly installed and maintained smoke alarms will provide an early warning alarm to your household. This alarm could save your own life and those of your loved ones by providing the chance to escape.
