The related article states: "This was the decade of excess. It began with the Millennium Dome and now comes to an end with the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building, due to open in a matter of weeks. These bold structures frame the noughties – and all its outrageous buildings – like a pair of eye-popping follies."

acla:works What solutions exist for places such as Sea Lots, which are hidden from view when important meetings are held in Port of Spain? Stephen Chan's article from the UK Guardian talks about the problem in light of the recent Commonwealth meeting held here, but offers little in the way of solutions, quite possibly because the... onus of finding these falls on people a bit closer to home.

I am sorry to say that this is an excellent article. Travelling to Trinidad for five years now gave me a glimpse of a country that everyday makes it more clear it interest towards an emprty competitiveness that has nothing to do with planning or cooperation with and for the local well being.
. . .Coopetitiveness anyone?
