Randee Meckley

Randee Meckley Hello Mr. Barbour, have you ever done any mentoring/teaching about what you want in an assistant? What are your thoughts about hiring one that has never assisted before?

Hi Ranee, sorry for not getting back sooner. Apparently, Facebook doesn't send me notifications when some writes on my fan page wall.

There's a great book called The Photographer's Assistant and you can get it anywhere. I used that when I started out and it really helped wrap my brain about what role an assistant plays.

Also, I'd recommend joining ASMP (htt://www.asmp.org) and get on their assistants list. Great way to start is to go out an do it!

Au Revoir Gourmet Magazine. I happen to have a little shot in the latest and final issue Gourmet. Since I probably won't be able to get a digital tearsheet,

Erin Grace Porozni

Erin Grace Porozni Hey, Lincoln! :) Do you know of some good places to get some great shots of downtown Portland?

Hey Erin! I like shooting downtown's skyline from the Eastbank Esplanade right near the Morrison Bridge and Hawthorne Bridge. Are you looking for something specific?

Well, I WANT to shoot off the top deck of the Marquam bridge, but that's probably not a good idea. :) Just working on a little project for a wedding client - taking a few shots of Portland for them (they moved to CA and miss it up here and want a gallery wrap of something that "reminds them of Portland" for their new house). Been loosely scouting ... Read Morelocations (mostly while driving) for weeks and I'm impressed at how hard it is to find a good spot. Got a few good shots of the "Made in Oregon" sign a few weeks ago. Didn't realize how hard it was to get a good angle on that until I actually tried. Yes, I think that part of the Esplanade is probably going to be one of my best bets. I'll have to plan a trip over there soon. Thanks for the input! Good luck on the move!
