*Effective Communication*
Church leaders need to master the art of verbal communication because every word spoken has the potential to inspire and e...nvision people. As leaders we need to know how to ‘sell’ the vision and preach messages that have a lasting impact on the listener. Being an effective communicator starts by being convinced about what you are saying and then convincing others. It’s more than just speaking words – it’s the person behind the words, the way the words are packaged together, and the passion with which the package is delivered.
*Networking*
It’s important to recognise the power of synergy – that when we connect our lives with others we achieve disproportionately far more than we can on our own. No man is an island and we will always have a limited horizon if we try to achieve things alone. Whether you are a Senior Pastor or part of a church team you need to have strong relationships with people who bring out the best in you. We need the encouragement of like-minded friends who share our vision as well as the challenge of those who are on a different path, but achieving great things for God!
*Church Business*
Good business practice is vital to growing churches in today’s society. It’s important that we relate correctly to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs and of course with the Charity Commission (as most churches are registered charities). Many churches are also registered an non-profit-making companies which puts further legal requirements upon Trustees. Our business practice, including the way we handle finances, needs to be flawless as well as strategic. Our Senior Pastor may have a good reputation as a preacher, but if our business management is flawed then our church could be brought into disrepute.
*Worship Teams*
An effective worship team is one that finds the balance of creativity with character, serving the vision of the church with seeking the fresh sound of heaven. There is such potential of a few committed, creative individuals working together to serve and enable the congregation to encounter God in praise and worship. So how do we build a team like that?
*Youth Work in the Community*
Young People receive messages about important life-issues from multiple sources, so little of those sources represent a Biblical viewpoint. Not many Young People will visit their local Church Youth Group on Friday night and so it's important that we take our Youth Ministry to the one place where Young People are guaranteed to be - School. In this present day finding ways to be an effective presence in local schools requires creativity, consistency, a good relationship with staff and a lot of prizes. It's imperative to raise a team of Young Adults to take on the challenge of reaching Young People in our Community in a relevant and impacting way.
