Yes, John. Unfortunately they asked us to pull the rack due to a distribution conflict with the other free publications there. The next closest place for pickup would be the Roasterie Cafe. Let me know if you need another location. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the information. I live right around the corner from the Roasterie Cafe, so that should work just fine.

The Kansas City Gardener I'm glad for the snow. It provided economic opportunities for those who move snow, and for the locally owned hardware stores selling shovels, gloves and ice melt. Oh and the birding stores are probably faring well too. All based on my own spending, of course.

It is great for the landscapers and maintenance companies. And it got my son out of the house and away from his computer for a while to shovel our driveway and several of the neighbors' driveways!

And, when it melts, it provides moisture for the sleeping perennials.

Gotta love all the snow for the way it obscures the fact that I never had time to do my autumn garden-cleanup. Oh well ... will have to wait for that one nice day in February!

You better believe it! I go out every morning and put a little extra seed on the ground along with some nuts for the squirrelly squirrels! I just came in and they're already out there enjoying their feast!! Merry Christmas to ALL!

The Kansas City Gardener A little holiday decoration. I couldn't bring myself to put plastic ornaments on my tree out front. Maybe the birds and squirrels won't notice.

So far Alexis, they haven't touched it. I guess the crabapples and hollies are keeping them content.

The Kansas City Gardener The snow is gradually melting from the first winter blast. Do you think it'll be gone by the weekend?

Susanne McDaniel
No. The only thing I like about it is the practicality of needing the first really hard freeze for proper dormancy. Other than that...I'm ready for March 21st.

Not in Weston. Snow Creek opens tomorrow and they're happy with all the snow. I won't be skiing, but I"m happy to see the snow tucking in my plants for the winter.

The Kansas City Gardener The ferns, mums and pumpkins that have been decorating the front porch and back deck have now been recycled, and containers stored away. Time for evergreens and berries to take their place.

The squirrels are JUST NOW eating into my pumpkins. They chewed a perfect round circle around the stem and tossed it to on the porch. I should take a pic and post.

After an icestorm/snowstorm when it is on the ground (public) or at the curb it could be considered fresh for the taking, it will just go to the chipper truck or compost pile at that point. Pruning is quite another issue.......... Old milkweed pods, magnolia leaves and seed pods, cord grass, etc...

Patrick Cavanaugh Yes, and in the winter you see many, many more holiday lights!
