Prince Edward Island

at what point does a person from the island who moves off island become from 'away'?

it is a place i long to visit one more time

Even when geographically away, I am there

I long for it everyday...especially the summers :)

Gracie i remember walking to school with you.....I felt like I was walking with a movie star...I was so proud.No matter how many times I see Anne of Green Gables I always see you on stage!!

well if you move away say when your 6 an move back at like 6 then they think your from away even thoyou have to constantly correct them that you were born on the island lol

During my last visit I stocked up on jams, pickles etc from the farmers market. Fantastic memories spreading my toast! Although I live on Cape Cod PEI is my second home.

And those who have visited feel a constant pull to go back.

Its like being away from HOME !!

For me, it is home. I miss home so much! There is no where else on Earth like PEI...The connection to the Island a person from there feels when they move away is unique; it is always there and no where else feels like home.

You are so right, Tish. I miss my beautiful home of P.E.I very much, but like a lot of P.E.I ers the jobs are away from home.I miss the sample things, like walking in the woods on a fall day and listening to the sound of leave's under my feet. But most of all, that special person.

Even for those who are not from it.....

its hard being away for those that arent from it but LOVE it!

When i go there i feel at home. I feel where my roots are and misss them very much. haven t been able to find them anywhere else.

a true P.E.Islander,may live away.......but will never be from away.

hmm P.E.I. will always be "home" for us..we have been in Alberta 3 years..but we fly home often..love landing during the day...it is sooo beautiful..we miss it alot....

My family and I have been going to the island on and off for over 35 years and was just there this summer in Darnley. I'm from Vermont and the contrast between mountains and ocean is amazing. It is most definitely a place that calls you back time and again. Hope to be back again very soon.

miss it

in my mind i will always be an islander no matter how many years i am gone.its always going to be a part of you. home is home

my heart will alway belong to the island. been gone now for 40yrs,but always talk about it to my grandkids and friends,hope to get back in a year or so for a visit as its been 7 years since my last visit.

Born and raised on the island. I do love the way of life very much.

I live in Edmonton now and visited PEI for the first time in 20 years last fall. I forgot a place still existed where the people are so friendly, and more matters in life than finishing first at everything!
