Prison Fellowship

Prison Fellowship Hear from Hattie who just finished our 18 month IFI program:
Before coming to prison I had lost all hope in my life. My dreams had come to an end because of my drug addiction. I was living a life full of chaos and darkness. I had lost my child, my career, and was losing my health. I was driving myself insane. When I rec...eived my prison sentence I knew my life was really over. I contemplated suicide and barely made it to prison alive. When I got here I struggled with a sense of insecurity. The life that I knew was gone. I felt like a fish out of water. My self-esteem had been destroyed and I knew that I needed to use this time to straighten out my life. A couple of ladies suggested that IFI would be good for me. I came into this program seeking to fill the hole that the drugs had left in my life, and I gained so much more. My self-esteem is better than ever. I am a strong individual who radiates hope to others. IFI has brought me to a new understanding of love and live. I have been empowered. Restoration has been the core value that has affected me the most. My life and sanity have been restored, and now I have hopes and dreams again. I am more confident than I have ever been. My husband has seen how much I have changed and he wanted what I have so he joined the IFI program at Tucker. Our relationship has grown as a result of that. This prison sentence has been the best thing that has happened to me in a very long time. I just finished my 18 months in the IFI program and was chosen to stay on and be a member of the ‘Restorative Counsel” for the new group of women. I thank God and IFI for creating in me a new life, new hopes, and new dreams.

the Bible tells us. Why? Because God's gift of forgiveness and hope extends to those behind bars. No matter what they've done, no matter how far they've fallen. Jesus had this surprising habit of hanging out with the "losers" of society - the ones other people looked down on. ...

Prison Fellowship Let your voice be heard on Capitol Hill! Ask your Members of Congress to support the HOPE Initiative Act of 2009. This will give state and local governments the resources to set up probation programs that cut drug use, crime, and the cost of imprisonment. Yes He can! I've seen it. We don't bring Jesus in to the prisons when we go, He is already there!

Yes, I agree! My son always had a good heart but even goodhearted people make mistakes and sin against God. When we do anything that is illegal, we are sinning. The Bible says, obey the laws of the land. Whether selling or smoking marijuana or cheating our government, sin is sin. My son must have known that God was already in there because that is ... See Morewhere he told me to be saved, you have to diligently seek God. In prison, Shane sought and found God. He said he is so glad that God allowed him to go to prison. He is so praying that the Good Lord will allow him to be free. He hasn't seen his little son for four years. Please pray for Shane and Rodney my son-in -law. I also would like for everyone to pray for a young man named David to seek God. I have known him since his youth. David's dad was such a good and dearly loved person that died of brain cancer. It broke the hearts of all of us that knew him. David lost his best friend when he lost his dad. David made a mistake one night and has been in prison for about a year and a half. He got three years. Please pray for him to get out and find a job to help raise his little daughters. He does really love his girls. Thanks to all and most of all I thank God for his blessings.

Karen Elizabeth Williams

Karen Elizabeth Williams Three strikes laws mean that this guy could get 77 years in prison for stealing a couple donuts. Where's the justice in that? And, do we really want to spend over $40,000 a year to lock up someone who stole $1.25? We've got to get some common sense in our sentencing laws!

Another interesting story surrounding California's three-strikes law: Clearly, this man is a career criminal, but should he be sentenced to life for this crime? We want to hear your thoughts

While in prison making maybe 20 cents per hour the court lets you run up a $28,000 child support bill?

Prison Fellowship Picture of the Week!

Listen to Dixie tell her story below. Dixie is a part of our IFI (InnerChange Freedom Initiative) program in Arkansas.

Due to a sad life and a lot of bad choices, I landed in prison serving a 25-year sentence. The greatest loss I have suffered is my parental rights to see my three daughters. I fel...t like a total failure; not only had I failed at my three marriages, I had now failed as a mother too. I met the Program Manager of the IFI Women’s Unit in August 2006. She told me of the requirements needed for acceptance into the program. My parole date was too far off to gain entry into the first group. However, I was moved into the IFI unit six months after Group One started. My job was to clean the building while the IFI members were in class. I saw something in those women that was missing in my own life. I didn’t understand how they always seemed so happy and smiling while in prison. I wanted what they had and became willing to go to any length to get it. I asked if I could possibly be in Group Two. No one thought I could make it. I did make it through Group Two. This program has taught me there is a better way to live and how to love and be loved. I graduated October 7, 2009. I was voted as the speaker for our class at graduation and now I have chosen to stay with Group Three as a “Restorative Counsel” member, which is like a peer counselor. God did what I could not do myself. He delivered me from crack cocaine, restored me to my children, and has shown me a very bright light at the end of the tunnel.
