Does anyone know about treatments for advanced prostate cancer that might be available abroad (and not in the US)? My dad is currently being treated with Taxotere, but it doesn't sound like there are many options after that. I know sites are recruiting for a clinical trial with Ipilimumab, but the fact that it's a do...uble-blind is kind of scary. I do recognize that it may be the only option! Any help would be greatly appreciated.Read More

Kim Sorensen I am a supporter for all cancer research. The love of my life just had prostate surgery and it was successful! I thank GOD everyday for his blessings!

In a more realistic world, when should I expect to be able to return to work?
After 3 weeks, I should finally be getting my catheter removed today (3rd try after urodynamic testing showed minor leaking at the sutures).
Initially I was told 2-3 weeks after my laparoscopic surgery would OK, so I just planned on four weeks.... But now I'm not so sure. I have a long train ride to work - some 80 minutes, and I'm not so sure I can deal with that long trip with all the shaking, etc. in a crowded train car.
I have a great deal of discomfort when seated in a normal chair, even with a pillow.
Just looking for the experience of others. Thanks to all in advance.Read More

Miguel Ortiz Great rport from the surgeon today. Pathology tests came back and am now cancer free whooooo, praise God. Thank all of you for your prayers and encouragement. Tomorrow is liberation day with the catheter, feeling wonderful and getting stronger every day.

Heather My dad passed away in June 2008 after battling very aggressive prostate cancer for about 11 years. It kind of angers me that so much media attention is given to breast cancer, while prostate cancer receives little to no attention!

Just finished Radiation seeds implantation. Just wanted to see what was going on out there in the way of research and support.

Glenn Barcellos Just starting down the treatment path. With PSA of 16.4, had biopsy wich showed cancer with a Gleason of 8. CT and Bone scans were clear. Radiation oncologist recommends 2 months of Lupron followed by 2 months of radiation and is confident of a cure.

I had RP in July 09. My most recent PSA is undectable. However my incontinence problem is getting worse. I do kegels and the flow gets worse. Dr. states that there are pills to relieve these symtoms but the side effects are worse than the cure. I go back to see him on Nov 11 and if I have not gotten control of the... sphincter muscle by than h will recomends surgery to solve the problem. Any one out there who has had this surgery.Read More
