The staff at Lucy’s Hearth knows a little bit about holiday spirit. Each year they assist over 100 families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year will be more of a challenge, they predict.

AIDS Walk 2009 took place on Sunday, October 25, 2009 starting and ending at Roger Williams National Memorial Park, on North Main Street, Providence. Hundreds of walkers raised money and gathered to walk the 3K route through parts of Fox Point and the East Side in Providence. This was the first AIDS Walk since AIDS P...roject RI became a division of Family Service of RI. It was also the first time the walk, held for more than 20 years, was held in October instead of the spring. One of the reasons for the October date was to involve more college students--and it worked, with students from Bryant, Johnson & Wales, RI College, and Brown--as well as high school students--walking and helping with the set up and break down. Sponsors included Cardi's Furniture, Mayor David Cicilline/City of Providence, and Textron. Thanks to all who helped make this a success!!! The AIDS Walk benefited AIDS Project RI, a division of Family Service of RI.Read More
