On Sunday, I jumped back into my running shoes with gusto…a 10.9 mile run with my neighbor, Roberta. It was probably a longer run than I would have done on my own, but I honestly might not have made it out the door otherwise. ...

Watching the snow falling today (not the first day of snow this month) made something click for me: it’s not summer anymore! What happened to all my good intentions of building up my mileage again for a fall/winter marathon? ...

We returned this week from our adventure to Italy, and it will take me a while to get through all the photos (over 2,000 of them!). We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to make the trip...

PuggerRunner Maybe the Disney Marathon in January? If I do the half-marathon on Saturday (a Donald Duck medal) AND the full marathon on Sunday (Mickey Mouse medal), I'll be the proud owner of the Goofy medal!!

PuggerRunner Thinking it's time to get another marathon on my calendar. Tempted to do Kansas City, MO...just because the airfare is just $69 roundtrip right now! But, it's in late October...and I haven't been running much at all since the NJ Marathon in May. Maybe I need to get a slow build-back started.

This time around, back-to-school is taking on a whole new meaning for me. It’s been an amazing, and overwhelming, start to the school year! My new job as Dean of School Culture at Flagstaff Academy is still being defined as I go, as it’s a brand new position for the school too. So...

Today was my last day as Director of Community Affairs & Restorative Justice at the Lafayette Police Department. I said my goodbyes, did my exit interview, and even got a farewell lunch...

What is it about doing yardwork with my dad that makes the world seem right? With my parents visiting us from NJ, my father and I spent the day cleaning up the yard in preparation for Gillian’s 1st birthday party tomorrow. ...

The first full day of summer treated us Front Range Colorado folks to an incredible sunset show over the peaks last night. I don’t normally blog like this when I’ve got nothing to say…but, truly, I can’t say anything good enough for what I saw last night. So, I’...

It’s actually Tuesday now as I’m writing this (just barely). I can’t sleep, and I’m thinking about why people dislike Mondays so much. As if I’m one to comment on that, as an avid disliker of the work-week re-entry myself. However, there are a few things I do actually like about Mondays. Here the...

For the third year in a row, I was denied entry into the NYC Marathon coming up in November! Bleh. At least I know I’ll have a guaranteed entry for next year (automatic after 3 denial years in a row), but it really makes me much less enthusiastic about doing NYC for my 26.2 in New York state. ...

What's the reasoning for denying you? I had no idea...I thought ANYone could run a race if you just signed up and, you know, ran.

I think it's great you got denied, Kev. All this running you're doing is unnatural. Get in a car.

PuggerRunner Bummed that Saucony is discontinuing the Omni ultra. I've done well with that shoe for many years. After a great assessment at Alan Culpepper's new store, I'll be trying the Mizuno Wave - Nirvana. A little lighter than the Saucony, which is good, but I'm

9down, 41 to go! Rolled into a whirlwind trip back east, I completed the NJ Marathon in Long Branch on Sunday, May 3rd. If you’ve been following along, you know that I wasn’t exactly well-trained and prepared for this one. Here’s how it all went down. Thur...

PuggerRunner Today marks the two-week point of no-running to recover from the NJ Marathon. Hard to stop my brain from looking for the next event. Thinking about a fall marathon, with a full-on training cycle between now and then. I'm itching for a new PR. Wonder if I'

Maybe you should shoot for sub-Scott first ;) Nothing like a little brotherly competition to get you motivated, eh?

On Sunday, I finished the NJ Marathon in Long Branch, NJ. I’ll post a full race report soon with pictures, but just wanted to put up this quick update. It was more of a long, slow, training run than a race. I stayed very conservative and comfortable until some cramping at mile 24. ...
