well everybody in Indiana SAYs it was the really bad winters we had in the late 70's But then I think South Dakota has bad winters Illinois has bad winters I could go on but the point is I dont buy it Farmland (habitat has decined vanished ) and James is right but nobody wants to belive it

After a covey flush on a fence row, one of the birds got hooked on the barbed wire strand briefly... it spun around once and popped off, just as the dog snagged it in mid air like a frisbie!

My dad busted a covey and on the rise one bird flew back toward him and ran into his gun barrel before he shouldered it. The bird fell to his feet and he put his foot on it and picked it up. No buckshot in that meat.

I was thirteen and had been hunting our home covey for five or six days, with nothing to show. For it was everyday our old Pointer would point and I would miss. But on this day as the covey got up a single bird veered to the right and ran in to my shot. I can still '' see'' that bird in my hand.

Just tryin' to Sun Tan the top of his head, too..........

Opened season around Midland, TX hunting Blues and Bobs. It was fantastic. My son(13), and I only made 6 rounds because it got to warm for the dogs but we found 18 coveys and brought home 47 birds.

wrapped in bacon and browned and then simmered in applecider and sliced apples till tender, serve over wild rice

Read Moreto get off of the ground. lol Needless to say, thanks to the warmer than normal weather a Rattler was sunning himself and was disturbed by the dogs. The 5 foot Rattler ended up stretched across the hood of the Jeep for the rest of the afternoon.

last week had setter and wiemar.pionter,was out on my lease land to check the feeders and the coveys on the land there ,walk past a 5 ft rattler(never rattle) then my setter grab my hand for no reason i turned around just in time to see it ,it went to snake heaven with my new (the Judge) pistol needlest to say my setter got to stop by hardees on the way home. nov 14 opening day in alabama
