Queer Stars "Gately's body was discovered on 10 October 2009 while on holiday in an apartment which he owned with Cowles near Port d'Andratx on the western tip of Majorca in Spain. Spanish police were alerted at 1:45 pm." [death planet, Pluto, at 0 Capricorn, conjunct 27 Sagittarius Ascendant both opposed by natal Mars at 29 Gemin...i]. "The cause of death has yet to be determined, although it was reported that he had "gone out for drinks, returned to his accommodation and fallen asleep, but never woke up."" [natal Sun at 27 Pisces exactly conjunct the Ascendant of the death notice chart]. "He was found squatting in an awkward way on a sofa, dressed in his pyjamas. Police said they had no reason to believe the death was related to abuse of substances such as drugs or alcohol and no suicide note or signs of violence were located on the corpse. The Gately family have enlisted celebrity solicitor Gerald Kean as their official spokesperson; Kean ruled out foul play and suicide, describing it as "just a tragic accident"." [Transiting Uranus-Juno conjunct natal Sun certainly indicates life taken away by a tragic accident].

Please ignore the Angles and Fortuna in the outer ring (I've used a noon chart because the time of birth is unknown to me). I wanted to include the angles in the death notification chart to show that his natal Moon is conjunct his Death's Sun & MC in 10th; natal Saturn is exactly conjunct Death's Mars, SN & 8th cusp; and natal Pallas is exactly conjunct Death's IC in 4th.

How do we explain his awkward squatting position? Maybe, Uranus-Juno in mutable Pisces in the 3rd house (of contortionism?), with Uranus ruling Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune in the 2nd (house of the physical body).

Note that the Sabian Symbol for Death's Sun (17 Libra), ruler of Vesta in 8th, is "Two men placed under arrest." The symbol for Vesta (17 Leo) is "A chemist conducts an experiment before his students." There may be more to this than meets the eye?... See More

Death's Fortuna is at the midpoint between Death's Sun & Vesta, in semi-sextile to both. The Sabian Symbol for Fortuna (16 Virgo): "A volcano in eruption." The mind boggles as to what that may refer to.

Queer Stars Openly-gay Irish pop singer STEPHEN GATELY dies in Spain "in his sleep" on 10 October 2009 as the South Node and Mars transit over his natal Saturn at 26 Cancer: "A furious storm rages through a residential canyon" (Sabian Symbol). Meanwhile, Solar Arc progressed Pluto at 13 Scorpio was exactly conjunct his North Node,... and SA progressed Neptune at 17 Capricorn exactly opposed the Pluto discovery degree. That's a lot of Pluto-Mars-Saturn energy at the time of his death, so i hope the sleep factor was a blessing. I don't have his times of birth or death, so I've used speculative times (noon birth chart and 3AM death chart).

hi Dermod. well, that puts the death time well after the 3am time i used. I really just pulled a figure out of my hat. I've used the 1.45pm chart for the notification of his death to the police in my discussion on my Gately webpage: http://astroqueer.tripod.com/charts/music/stephen-gately.html. i might post that on this forum because it's quite interesting.
