They come large and small – hanging on a plant hook, off a rig or strung together on an awning.

Learn how to make yuor own RV party light on this new RV Cooking Show blog post - http://rvcookingshow.blogspot.com/2009/11/rv-campsite-party-light.html. Fun!!

RV Cooking Show You know I love farmers mkts. Great article on eating "fresh" - even in the winter

is.gd
For those of us in the Midwest, summer is so much easier when it comes to eating local -- lots of farmers markets stocked with goodies from local growers, bakers and purveyors. Now those little meccas of low-impact food are closed for the season.

RV Cooking Show Poll: Do you turn your propane tanks off (close) or leave them on (open) when driving your #RV? #rving

We travel a longer day than you do -- 8-12 hours sometimes. And we've always traveled with ours on. BTW, in a travel trailer, (like we own) we generally refuel at a campground, and therefore, are running the fridge on electric, not propane.

Mike Eurke
Mike Eurke - I leave it on all the time - RV refridgerators are desinged to be run on propane when driving- this is in support of the RV lifestyle to keep your food cool when driving- the fridge is the only appliance that the RV manufactures recommend to leave on when on the road and they design the fridge outside grille to allow for this- the ... See Moretimes when the propane should be shut off is when refuelling and when driving through certain areas such as in and out of tunnels as required by state law in the USA and some provinces in Canada - you should have your propane system checked once a year to make sure there are no problems and then enjoy the summer and winter!

We didn't spray paint the caddys - it was so wickedly windy that day - but there were cans of paint available and others there were painting. I loved photographing them, tho...a million great angles.

Did you paint them?

RV Cooking Show What's your RV story? Everyone here has one to tell...but can you do it in just 6 words? Hemmingway was challenged to do that and came up with this "For sale. Baby shoes. Never worn."

I'm issuing this challenge to you. Give me Six Words About Your RV Life - you can contribute as many as you wish. I'll start with a coup...le of mine...

Loves to travel. Loves to eat.

Never RV'd. Sold the house first.

And my friend, NYC dweller George Gesner, came up with this witty line...

Movies are great. Trailers are better.

Have fun with this and if you want more on this fun project check out my blog entry at http://rvcookingshow.blogspot.com/2009/09/six-words-about-your-rv-life.html

I cannot wait to read your entries!!!

RV Cooking Show Poll: We've been driving and driving and driving the #RV...450 miles yesterday! How many RV miles do you typically travel in a day?

September 12 at 1:19pm via Ping.fm
Diane
Diane
I am 29 days new to RVing. My longest drive thus far has been 9 hours. In the future, I am planning to drive no longer than 6 hours; otherwise I am too exhausted to set-up when I arrive. I also target leaving either very early (5 to 6 AM) so that I can relax and cook dinner after I arrive. Arriving after 6 does not allow me that luxury.

For me it depends on my traveling purpose. If I have to be somewhere I guess I have to beat feet...right now I have commitments in Florida so hustle I must...and I don't love it at all!

My preference is a slow stop and smell the roses approach. Nothing more than 150 miles a day with a two to three day stop at most locations. Even if we don't go ... See Moreanywhere it's just nice to be.

Diane, are you fulltiming for fun or heading to a job? Holy-moly...we are contemplating a 250 mile drive tomorrow and I told my husband I just don't think I can make it :} Leave a comment with your situation...I'd love to hear more about what you are doing.

RV Cooking Show It breaks my heart when I hear of RV crashes - some fatal - due to brake failure...and there have been several in the news of late. Be safe, be smart, get down the mountain without incident. Do not ride your brakes - they'll heat up and fail. Even if you are an experienced RV driver please review this link: safe mounta...in driving rules truckers know but RVers may not: http://is.gd/2JZxr Save a life - share this...XOXO
