Race Results Weekly Inc. Bernard Lagat has been given bib number one for Saturday's Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile. He was second here last year. Lisa Dobriskey, the defending champion, has been given the top bib in the women's field, 31.

Race Results Weekly Inc. Haile Gebrselassie may not have bettered his own world record for the marathon in Berlin yesterday, but he did set a pending world record for 30 km of 1:27:44, 16 seconds better than Takayuki Matsumiya's 2005 record.

Race Results Weekly Inc. Ryan Hall (1:01:52) and Catherine Ndereba (1:09:43) won today's ING Philadelphia Distance Run half-marathon. For Hall it was his first victory here in his Philly debut. Ndereba won for the 7th time in 13 years. Conditions were perfect: cool temps with sunny skies.

Race Results Weekly Inc. Anna Willard's prowess at the 800m may be the most pleasant surprise of the 2009 track season. She won the Reebok GP last May in a PB 1:59.29, won the Paris GP in an even faster 1:58.80 last July, won the Brussels GL in 1:59.14, then won the World Athletics Final last weekend in 2:00.20. Oh yeah, she also ran 3:59.38 for 1500m, 9:26.85 for the steeple, and won the USA indoor 1500m title!

Race Results Weekly Inc. The fall road running season is in full swing. Yesterday's Rotterdam Half-Marathon got the party started with Sammy Kitwara's course record 58:58, making him only the 6th man to break the 59 minute barrier for the half-marathon.

Race Results Weekly Inc. Today, the New York Road Runners announced that half of the medalists from the 1500m at the recent IAAF World Championships will run the Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile on Sept. 26: Bernard Lagat, Lisa Dobriskey and Shannon Rowbury.
