Rachel Hamman Orlando, Florida (September, 2009) In her latest book, “Mom’s Night Out: Even Inmates Get Time Off For Good Behavior” Rachel Hamman urges moms to go reclaim some time for themselves and with the help from 76 mothers from across the country, she vividly illustrates why moms both desperately need and deserve a break. “Mo...ms get so wrapped up in making everyone else a priority that they rarely carve out time for themselves. It’s an affliction that has reached epidemic proportions and without the pendulum swinging in the opposite direction, it could very well lead to the collapse of the family, or at a minimum, a mom’s sanity.” says Hamman, who also authored Bye-Bye Boardroom: Confessions From A New Breed Of Stay-At-Home Moms. Hamman felt so strongly about the issue, two years ago she founded National Mom’s Night Out, a celebration which encourages Moms to leave the little ones and hubby at home for one night and reconnect with who they are besides being a mom. March 18th will be the 4th Annual Moms Night Out. As Hamman puts it, “The holiday gives moms a guilt-free excuse to go play and recharge themselves so they will be better equipped for stepping back into their role as caretaker.” Will moms start trading in their baby bottles for bottles of Merlot? “Perhaps or perhaps not.” replies Hamman. “Moms are so delighted to be anywhere for a few hours without kids, it does not necessarily have to involve alcohol. It’s the mothers who never give themselves some down time that will end up needing a strong drink!”
