Raise High The Roof Beam
$8 / 21+ / 10pm doors / 10:30pm show
On July 18th, after the bands at Pitchfork are done and you can finally get away from the pretentious hipster who kept saying, “Frankly, I don’t enjoy music unless there’s two accordions in the band,” head over to the Beat Kitchen to see Raise High the Roof Beam play the ultimate Pit...chfork after show. With five singers and a full indie dance pop sound, you’ll feel as if you’ve awaken from a dream and into a party you never want to leave.
The eclectic five-piece has taken most of the summer off to record their forthcoming full length album. After a May tour and the release of their second EP, The Majestic Beast of the Flatlands, (streaming for free at http://raisehightheroofbeam.bandcamp.com), they are ready to feel the warm embrace that Chicago always delivers.
Supporting Raise High the Roof Beam will be two very talented Ann Arbor bands. Basement Spiders, led by Steve Small, will begin the night with a three piece acoustic set similar to the sounds of Sufjan Stevens and Iron and Wine. Buffalo Kids will follow with their style of Mid-Western rock guaranteed to make your toes tap and your head bob.
