North Carolina State Parks and Recreation The state parks will be open throughout the Thanksgiving weekend. That's good to know if you need to walk off a holiday dinner or need to decompress from the shopping mania.
North Carolina State Parks and Recreation Flat Stanley, the children's book character that students often send on journeys via mail or email, visited Falls Lake State Recreation Area recently. Park staff allowed him to dress as a ranger for the day and even gave him his own radio. He learned a lot about the park's history and natural resources.

North Carolina State Parks and Recreation About 150 friends and fans of Fort Macon State Park came to the dedication of the park's new Coastal Education and Visitor Center Saturday. At 22,547 square feet, it's one of the state parks system's largest facilities and architecturally, one of the most stunning.
