North Carolina State Parks and Recreation Flat Stanley, the children's book character that students often send on journeys via mail or email, visited Falls Lake State Recreation Area recently. Park staff allowed him to dress as a ranger for the day and even gave him his own radio. He learned a lot about the park's history and natural resources.

At 22,547 square feet, it's one of the state parks system's largest facilities and architecturally, one of the most stunning.
