Alecia Gough

Alecia Gough I recently read: Kissed By An Angel/The Power of Love/Soulmates the romance trilogy written by Elizabeth Chandler. I am a sucker for a good romance and loved this trilogy. I have recently read the entire Twilight series and loved this equally as much. It was a romance about a teenage couple hopelessly in love with one another when a tragic accident takes the life of the young man. He finds himself trapped between this world and the after life. He manages to reconnect with the love of his life and discovers that he cannot cross over until his mission on earth is complete, which is to save her life. It was a book I would recommend to anyone who loves romance and a bit of suspense.

Darrin Pagnac

Darrin Pagnac Review: Dogs, Their Fossil Relatives and Evolutionary History by Xiaoming Wang and Richard Tedford. This book takes us through the interesting history of man's best friend. From earliest origins 40 million years ago in the South Dakota badlands, to brief forays into a hyena-like existence, dogs have done it all. This is a fascinating read for anyone paelontologically or "canine-ologically" inclined. The artwork by Mauricio Anton really brings these extinct canines to life. Be warned, it can get a bit technical and a working knowledge of anatomy will help immensely.

Laura Wenk Floyd

Laura Wenk Floyd Review: I recently read The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. It is a fantastic story for anyone who considers themselves a book geek, especially if you are a fan of the classics. The main character, Thursday Next, works as a special agent inside the world of fiction, trying to maintain order and prevent the evil Jack Schitt from wreaking havoc on the novels we've grown to love. She also manages to fight Supremely Evil Beings and smuggle a little contraband cheese before all is said and done. Very entertaining and highly recommended.

Jennifer Nobles Tilley

Jennifer Nobles Tilley I just finished "My sisters keeper" by Jodi Picoult. This book tells of a families stuggle with having a daughter with leukemia and the parents doing what they feel as best to try to save her leading to having another child "Anna" for a bone marrow match. As Anna grows older she wants more choices in how much she is to give of herself medically to save her sister leading her to start a court case for her own Medical emancipation.

The ending of "My Sister's Keeper" is astounding. This book has been recommended as a must- read for book clubs. RCPL has a Books to Go bag of this title with discussion questions for book clubs. Check out other books by Jodi Picoult- "Nineteen Minutes" and "Handle with Care" to name just a few.

Rapid City Public Library Need an example of what we mean by a book review: "March" by Geraldine Brooks. "March" tells the story of the absent father, Mr. March, in Louisa May Alcott's Little Women as he lives through the life-changing experience of the Civil War. If you enjoyed this book, you might try "Year of Wonders" by Brooks as well (one of my personal favorites).

We do not have a specific list for summer, but we'd like to address your attention to our website where you can look under our Books and media section, Library Thing, and our Delicious site (Reader Advisory). A great website for current non-fiction is www.ala.org/yalsa/booklist. Click on books for the college bound. Googling "nonfiction booklists" will give you great lists of wonderful non-fiction. Check out the non-fiction genre section at www.bookbrowse.com. Thanks for the inquiry.
