This one is for those of us who are freelancers, service providers, or who have ongoing relationships where we work with clients. Gary Halbert – one of the greatest copywriters to ever work in the field – used to wear a hat that had two works embroidered on it: “Clients Suck”. Do they? A lot ...

It’s 2010. New Year. New possibilities. Many of us will be making resolutions today for the new year — and many of us have already made those resolutions. And for most people, those resolutions will be broken before the calendar changes to February. Bu...

These are worth thinking about as we enter the New Year. The transmission of information does not equal the creation of understanding. More time does not usually create better decisions. The message you are preaching is not nearly as persuasive as the message you are living.

We like to think we make our decisions based on logic and reason. But as Jonah Lehrer observes in his book “How We Decide”, the evidence suggest our decisions are based on completely irrational factors. We do, it turns out, judge books by their covers. In...

If you’re a fan of GTD, I highly recommend OmniFocus; it’s fairly straightforward and of all the “GTD” software I have tried this is hands-down the best. And believe me, I have tried them all. OmniFocus runs on my Macbook Pro and my iPhone, so I have my lists with me at all times. If Omn...

Inspired by Seth Godin. As you’re crafting your next marketing campaign, here are 7 questions to ask yourself. Answering them will virtually write your sales copy for you. It’s easy to do. But very powerful. Try it and see. Wh...

Roald Dahl, one of our great storytellers. He didn’t just tell great stories, he lived them. For instance, he once accidentally set his eyebrows on fire. If this video doesn’t stir your writer’s soul, just blunt your nibs, and consider doing something else. Wat...

You probably know who Clark Kent is. He’s the fumbling, bumbling, mild-mannered newspaper reporter who wears the big geeky glasses. A nice guy, but not exactly a role-model for manhood. After all, we can ALL identify with Clark. ...

If I died today, nobody would be able to log into my blog. I’ve suddenly realized that is an important problem that could become an urgent one in the blink of an eye. But wait. It gets worse. I own HUNDREDS of domain names, and have DOZENS of live, active websites. ...

Just when I thought I’d seen it all… I came across a website today for something called “Laughter Yoga”. My first question was, “What the heck is ‘laughter yoga’?” Turns out it’s exactly what it sounds like. People get together in a Yoga-class type setting, and they LAUGH. There’s even a “...

Yesterday (Monday, October 5, 2009) the US Federal Trade Commission rolled out a brand new rule: bloggers who endorse products must disclose any financial benefits they receive for doing so. Failure to live up to this rule could get bloggers fined up to $11,000. Per violation...

I figured it was only a matter of time. When this first came up months ago, it appeared mainly geared toward alternative health comps, but I was sure it would snowball into other areas.

In my opinion...Just another day in the office. Affiliate marketers will just have to comply by the rules and continue on. When there is a fork in the road..pull it out and eat your way through it...and for us who have affiliate programs, clearly state the FTC rules in your policy. That should be enough...I hope!?!

Friday in Allentown, a robber walks into a Wachovia bank branch in Allentown, PA. Intends to rob the place. Picks a 78-year old bank teller as his target. I guess he figured she would be a pushover. Boy was he wrong...
