more to come...
After 21 years in town, Colin Carter is finally leaving Denton. In early February, he will leave for Seattle, Washington, to pursue his dream of selling out to The Man.
To celebrate, we invite you to visit him on Friday, January 15, he...re at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios. To ease us all through this transition, Record Hop and other special guests will take the stage.
The following is a brief timeline of Colin’s accomplishments in Denton:
moves to Denton; farts in class on the first day of school; tries to make friends by quoting the NBC series Tour of Duty; farts in class on the last day of school
throws ice at the icicles on Woodrow Wilson Elementary School and is subsequently questioned by the police for vandalism
in a call to a female friend, sings the harmony parts to “More Than Words” by Extreme
goes to a junior high dance, where he tries to dance; dances “naughty” to “Tic Tac Toe” by Kyper
discovers Grunge but sticks with his Tommy Hilfiger shirts and ultra gelled hair with the ultra part
pushed down the stairs by Don Bonneville; pretends he’s part of the prank instead of the recipient of said assault
discovers high school girls and immediately learns about the Friend Zone
wears a pot leaf necklace to school on the day of class pictures; on the same day, his homemade (Sharpie) t-shirt says “It was no dream, it was in your underwears”
forgoes the beer for Boone’s Farm (apple) at his high school graduation party
shows up to Thanksgiving dinner at Granny’s wearing giant black Xs on his hands and smelling like a pack of Marlboros
drops out of college; dates Sorority Girl #1, who claims she’s “not Jewish enough” to understand Annie Hall; continues dating Sorority Girl #1 after that night
decides to not call girlfriend for two weeks; calls girlfriend after two weeks to let her know he’s not going to spend New Years with her camping at the lake
asks friend’s girlfriend for her friend’s phone number; fails to call said girl; earns nickname “No-Callin’ Colin”
on his first day back at college, is mistaken for the professor of HIST 2620; begins as manager of Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios
spends most of the year depressed in the RGRS office listening to Lambchop and playing solitaire
performs in Boy Division’s final show; says some really stupid things onstage
kind of a blur, but probably did some stupid and meaningless things
graduates from college nine years after starting; goes to a New Year’s party at 9pm, makes out on the porch, and steals champagne from the hostess (sorry Nancy!)
no-call no-show to his temporary job that was actually a pretty good opportunity; spends the rest of the year sort of looking for a job (read: sitting in the green recliner)
goes to Hooters, eats a lot of fried and hot things, goes to sleep, wakes up and plays a show, drinks vitamin drink, eats Mexican food, and voms for the next three days
fails to heed the advice of .38 Special
does relatively well staying away from bad decisions
leaves the most damn fine city in the world
So there you go. A little background on the guy who’s moving to Seattle because it looks good on Frasier.
