Recently we have been doing some work with Italian Greyhound Rescue. When the rep asked me if I wanted to "practice my wildlife photography skills" I was a tad skeptical. However when I met Kona and saw how beautiful she is, I wanted to share her story.
Kona was left alone in the yard by her old family. She was never t...ouched, loved, handled or socialized. Because of this, she is very afraid of the big world around her. Its painfully obvious when you meet her...her expression says it all. Shes very stiff and walks almost doubled over, afraid to look up from the ground.
Kona has been rescued and is slowly working towards becoming a normal dog but she is a perfect example of "puppy mill syndrome". Her rescuers are working patiently to teach her to associate people with good things and to help her learn to trust again. It may take her years to recover, and she may never completely get over her fear...but with time and love I know she will fit in with a family who understands her special needs and will love her for the sweet girl she is.Read More
