Retroland memory of the day 'Ditto Paper'
Source: www.retroland.com
I remember when I was in some of the older grades, maybe 6th or 7th, we'd have projects in which we had to go to the mimeograph room and run off some sheets of something or other on ditto paper. That ##!*& purple ink wouldn't wash off your fingers for at least two weeks!

Retroland memory of the day 'Mickey Mouse'

The most popular cartoon character of all time. For me, my Mickey Mouse toys were basically a way to remind my self of the holy grail - a trip to Disneyworld, every kids dream.

Retroland memory of the day 'Queen'
Source: www.retroland.com
The first album I ever owned was a copy of Queen's "News Of The World" from 1978 that a childhood friend, who was so much cooler than me, gave me. Almost every song on the album is a classic and I played that thing to death. An incredibly talented band that was so diverse, dipping into and bending s...

Retroland memory of the day 'Pop-A-Point Pencils'
Source: www.retroland.com
I remember these were quite popular at my elementary school, there were a lot of designs to choose, from cute cartoon animals, dinosaurs, glitter, stars, robots and outer space, motorcycles and racing cars, sea life, jungle and much much more. I went to great lengths trying not to lose the spare ti...

Great place to visit. The men who fought and died there are true heroes.

Retroland memory of the day 'Field Trips'

When our school was overcrowded, half of my first grade class got to go to the zoo and the other half (with me in it) had to go to the Mrs. Bairds Bread factory. It was the worst field trip ever.

Retroland memory of the day 'Bill Nye the Science Guy'

Any time that an educational show becomes a teacher's treat for their students behaving well, THAT is the true measure of success ;)

Retroland memory of the day 'Yogi Bear'

HEEYYY Boo Boo! I liked when Yogi said that. His constant blunders and his fascination for lunch baskets makes this show an oldies but goodies.

Retroland memory of the day 'Book Fairs'
Source: www.retroland.com
i loved these things ... i also remember the "bookmobile" (a large custom bus that came to our school every-so-often to sell books) even as far back as 1st grade ... getting "the five chinese brothers" and "the fat cat" . "dynamite" magazines were always available at the book fair ... we all loved...

Retroland memory of the day 'The Muppet Show'
Source: www.retroland.com
Always funny and amusing, even now. There's not one bad thing to say about this show. It was greatness, it was perfection, it was like nothing you have ever seen before. Jim Henson has and always will be my #1 inspiration in life. He not only impacted me with the Muppets, but also his fantasy film w...

Retroland memory of the day 'A Boy Named Charlie Brown'
Source: www.retroland.com
This is among the first movies I can still remember being taken to a theater to see. I've been a lifelong Peanuts fan, and I'm sure I enjoyed the experience of watching the gang on the big screen. I know that, upon seeing Snoopy twanging away on the "jaw harp," I wanted one for myself. My folks com...
